Well it's clear that not enough people skied/boarded at June Mtn. I'm assuming that all of the forumites knew about June so why didn't you ski/board at June (or at least more frequently)?

I went a lot when the QMC was there and the Face was open. Since then, I still went when the Face was open but at least half of those times the lifties wouldn't let us enter the Face from the chairlift side (east side) of the Chalet. We had to walk around the chalet for no reason. Ticked me off enough to say "screw that".

Good idea.

I wonder how many of the respondents you get will have actually tried skiing June? I spoke with a lot of friends, particularly families, who heard all kinds of stuff about it, and didn't even consider it in their plans. Once they did, they went there regularly.

Hi shifty, you are obviously intelligent after reading all your posts for many years. What’s your take on all the commotion? I own a second home in ML love both communities.

So I guess now a "why did you ski/ride June Mtn.?' thread needs to be opened?

Why didn't I ski/ride June?

Because the lifts were closed.

Just like the lifts were closed at Mammoth the same days. I'll have to tell you though, I rode J7 lots of days, ALL DAY, when the top of Mammoth was closed. And then the next day I rode powder at June all day again. And the next day I rode powder in the trees at June all day.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to keep it a secret. I posted pictures and stuffs. Maybe I was sarcastic about it but I thought most of yous would get it.

I skied there one day (Feb 1) this year during a 3-day Mammoth trip. The rest of my trips to Mammoth this year, June was closed.

That is my normal behavior. If I am at Mammoth for more than 2 days (or on a weekend) one of those day will be at June (if it and the roads are open).

Glad to see 25% saying they skied/rode June regularly.

I'm sure if MMSA had had that 25% on their spread sheet in the right column it would have made a difference.

Not really. June didn't close because plenty of people did chose to ski/board there.

What ever happened to equal opportunity?

I might just open a "why did you ski/ride June" thread. God knows there's enough threads on this subject already.
I won't make it a poll though. Polls don't really let you express yourself.

I'm not selling.

My land could turn back into prime agricultural land. I'm zoned commercial so I could end up with a produce stand. And chickens. Organic eggs. Organic tomatoes and chilies.

I actually have enough space on my property to build a skateboard park. I probably couldn't afford the insurance for that though.

First off, let me say i love June mountain and the community, very fond memories of the place.

My introduction to the Eastern Sierra's are because of my parents and their weekly timeshare in Mammoth during what used to be winter vacation in the 80s/90s which was the 7th week of the year in mid February. My parents still have the timeshare. Our timeshare runs from Sat-Sat for a whole week and our regular plan was to Ski June on Sundays because Mammoth is too crowded and ski Mammoth the rest of the week. We did that for a number of years.

But then i got older, went to college, started a career, had a son and now for me personally (not to mention Mom stopped skiing because its too "cold" and other family member have started families, careers) that nowadays i can only make the first half of the week trip Sat-Wed if i am lucky, so if i get 3 days a year in i am sorry i am going to Mammoth....that being said, we did ski June in 2009 and had a great day...fell in love with it over again. My son is 2 years old...and i can guarantee you he will ski June when it re-opens....because like many have said, it has great beginner terrain and i wont have to worry about crowds and all that goes into teaching a youngen....plus i want a damn corndog and a fat tire with OGT and other forumites....

LONGLIVEJUNE

I can't believe that after all the years I have spent at Mammoth I never went to June. I started skiing at Mammoth in the 1970/71 season and have skied there every year except for a few when I was in college in Utah. I ALWAYS said I needed to get up to June but with the limited days I had I just kept skiing Mammoth.

I find this kind of funny because I understand there are some great powder days to be had at June and that is what I really ski for. Not just the powder days, but the lack of people tearing up that new snow at June should have been a draw. I just never made the trip.

So, I guess you could say I am one of those at fault in t his matter.
