I hiked from the saddle coming down from J7. According to Google maps it was just over 1/2 mile.

Good call SnS. You know your way around June, that's for sure...

Not really I've probably only boarded there about a dozen times.

Well, it doesn't take a dozen times to learn your way around June. If you are paying attention of course. I've always said that their grooming is the best.

From today's email JM snow report:

Powder Stashed
This past weekend June received an amazing 14-24'' of new snow and since then we've stashed some of that powder away for you on chairs 4 & 6. That's right, chairs 4 & 6 have been closed since Monday and they are reopening tomorrow! Just imagine all that untouched snow, "sigh". All chairs spinning and access to 29 trails kicks into high gear starting Friday, February 27. And get this! More snow is in the forecast for this weekend along with temps in the 30's.

SnS, you should return to June now that 4 and 6 will be reopening.

Max, how was the hike over to the Negatives? Were you able to ride/skin the whole way from June or was there quite a bit of low-tide hiking/bushwhacking? Just curious. May try to make it over that way this weekend depending on conditions.

Friends and I skied June on Wed. (March 4). I highly recommend a trip over there to enjoy a great day of skiing with the mountain almost to yourselves. The mountain crew are doing a great job of grooming and we even found some soft stuff off piste! Finished the day at June Lake Brewery!

Yup. We skied there on 2/25 and it was an exceptional day even then. Did you try any of the unique and delicious food at O'Hana's 395 food truck in the JLB parking lot? If not, you missed out!

I greatly enjoyed my double loco moco and IPA at JLB afterwards.

^ Nice photos! I see you ordered that meal from Ohana's 395 food truck outside of JLB. Yummy, eh?

Yeah, I was initially skeptical of Hawaiian food in just about the least Hawaiian place I could envision, but it was quite good. Really hit the spot since I was ravenously hungry.

^ Yup, pretty sad. Glad we got there that day together for such great conditions!

Here's to the Season

The birds are chirping, the sun is shining; spring is in full effect at June, which means the snow is slowly melting. This Sunday, March 22, will be our last day for the 2014-15 winter season, but don't be sad, there are plenty of things to look forward to at June this summer (stay tuned). For the weekend we'll be slathering on the sun screen and hitting the slopes early for those perfect turns in our lighter layers. Chairs J1, J2, J3 & J7 will operate with access to 15 trails and temps could reach the mid to upper 40's. Be sure to head up this weekend to celebrate the 2014-15 winter with us.

Hey, June Mountain is open for the summer now, Friday-Monday. Go have some lunch up there, play some horseshoes or volleyball and enjoy the views.
