Even though J1 gives June Mtn it's charm, I won't miss the variable ascent/decent speeds to accomodate the smaller family members.
A detatchable high speed quad would be nice. 8-)

It's likely they'll install a gondola or chondola. Families with small children will feel much safer in an enclosed gondola car.

I think you're right on that one SnS. A gondola or similar would be better suited for a year-round "scenic ride".

Thanks for the info!! I took my last ride of the season up/down J1 on Saturday. I don't mind it... but it sure is more fun to take the face or the cat track back down ;-)

Haven't been able to get any additional inside scoop for you via my realtor - sorry about that!

Just realized there is a trail into the mountains right outside of my (soon to be) front door ... looking forward to exploring in the summer months!

SL, is the scenic ride/restaurant at June still open?

They didn't open it this year.

With all the excitement in the weather thread - I'm sending a bump the June crew to get a report!

Coming up for our girls weekend on Friday and staying in June this time around, whoop! How are the Saturday concerts coming? Dear magic 8 ball - what are the odds of the Wall opening? I think we'll be playing at June on Saturday, can't wait!

Decided to abide the warnings and stay home last weekend... hoping the roads are safe by late Friday evening!

I'd venture to guess that not only will The Wall be open by the weekend, but maybe The Face, too! Not sure what Saturday concerts you are speaking of?

Today, June Mtn. is closed again (it was closed last Sunday, as was Mammoth Mtn. and Tamarack). Read about it on their FB page.

Hope you and the ladies have a great weekend!

On this morning's June dump alert:

Face Time

Face time is now, and we're not talking about chatting with Grandma on your iPhone, we're talking about THE Face. The cheers and "whoop whoops" from J1 this morning were some of the best sounds in the world. Tomorrow we expect to pop the top with amazing snow around 4, 6, & 7 areas. Forecast for MLK weekend is looking sweet with mostly sunny skies Saturday-Monday with 7 lifts spinning and 100% of the mountain open.

Skied at June yesterday, since I knew Mammoth was going to be a zoo. Got there around 815 and the line for J1 was down the steps. When I left around 1130 it was still down the steps. But once you got up on top, no lines like usual. I guess J7 was open for an hour on Friday, but there were still plenty of fresh turns to be had. The Face was filled in nicely and nice soft packed powder all the way down to the parking lot. The lot was completely full and cars were parking out on the highway. Came back and skied at Mammoth in the afternoon with the kids when the lines were more managable. Looking forward to the next storm!

I warned my daughter about waiting to get to June to late so when she went on Sunday she got there about 7:45 a.m. and got front row parking and no line for the chair.

Best guesses for winds at June on Fri/Sat? Thinking of making a run up early Friday to catch late morning on, and then first half of the day Saturday. I'd be blowing off some stuff that I shouldn't blow off, but snow. Can't get a bead on how high the risk of weather holds is going to be.

Well the NWS is calling from 14 to 22 mph winds Friday and Saturday with snow falling throughout the weekend. You know what you want and your ability. Make the call.
