Who's going? I can't, but would like to hear reports please.

From today's first email snow report of the season:

Quote:
Opening Day is Saturday

Winter has come in like a lion and we are stoked to be opening this Saturday, December 12. With 2-3'' of new snow and more on the way El Nino is already rocking the 15/16 winter season. All lifts and all runs, from the Chalet up, will be open for some amazing skiing and riding along with Mambo Park featuring 2 Jumps, 1 Spine, 3 Boxes and 3 Rails. Opening Day lift tickets will only be $45, make your plans today.

My friend and I will be leaving Tahoe tomorrow morning. Hopefully the roads won't be too sketchy. Staying at Gull Lake Lodge which is Petey friendly. We're going to pick up our season passes and be ready for Saturday morning. It's going to be fun.

Too bad you're going miss an epic opening day SL.

I'll post some stuff on Monday next week when we get back. Maybe a couple of instagram shots before...

Hope to see SKIPUNK there on Saturday too....

Edit: opps, I think that SL might have me blocked. Can someone else let her know???

Is the June webcam new? I rarely go on June's website -- had not noticed a webcam in the past. Cool!

It was new this summer, but it's not a live cam just a series of static screen shots all over the mountain. Still gives one a good idea of conditions though! :)

I heard conditions were pretty good and a lot of fun. From all the great photos on FB it looked like a spectacular opening day. Little J sure deserves this! I look forward to getting over there after the holidays when my patient becomes even more independent and I can be away from the house a little longer.

The best opener for June in years. No fist fights only smiles and fun times.

It was packed though...

Image

Mt. Wood with more snow than it's had for a couple of years.

Image

Some people call it butta...

Image

Gunsmoke. Carvers delight....

Image

I had a small camera malfunction when riding off the top so I apologize for no shots from J7. You'll just have to check it out on your own...

Image

Crowds everywhere.

Image

I caught JuneBug checking out Woolly's butt....

Image

Be back soon... I got my June pass now and Homewood is getting dumped on right now. Just might have to use one of my free days there this week...

Yeah 2NA, it was a brutal drive home this afternoon. I had to have a couple of IPAs to settle my nerves before posting...

Flaskman just txt me on his way up and there was snow in Tehachapi. Hes in for a long drive. It'll be good though.
...back to June opener. The top of Wood got a good amout by your pic. Its well rounded. It makes me happy. Drought makes me depressed.

Yeah, Wood is looking good as well as other high ups. The Face of June needs a lot more snow to be rideable though. Probably 3 more feet for me. Lots of bushes on the Face still showing. I would stay out of the trees at June now too. But I saw some brave young souls in there. It's still low tide...
