First it was scheduled for 12/10, then 12/14 and now Friday, 12/16. The rain/snow mix at that elevation yesterday must have wrecked a lot of their natural and man-made snow. Hopefully with the colder temps coming they can blow a lot more before opening. I hope they have a good season.

Thursday's storm will be a real blessing for June. Right now it appears only Silverado and the ski school magic carpet have enough snow to ski on. Look at the cams on their website (during the day of course).

On June's FB page:

#JunesOpen One foot around the Chalet and about three feet up top. Lots to do to get the upper Mtn open but we will definitely be making turns on J2 today. Grand Opening with banner break through and toast has been shifted to tomorrow, Saturday, December 17.

After skiing and then snowboarding my entire life at Mammoth I'm finally making my first trek to June next Saturday. Any tips/knowledge I should know about? I've literally been to Mammoth hundreds of times and the one time I tried going to June they shut down due to weather. I'm excited to finally see what all the "June sucks" is all about ;)

Next Saturday might not be the best day to go if the big storm hits next week.

That's what I'm afraid of but with my friend's work schedule we might not have a choice. I'm fine keeping Mammoth as a backup if the storm is too bad.

If it's not a fresh pow day, no hurry to get there early until the run soften up a bit. Pick up a trail map in the ticket office off the parking lot. All kinds of hidden treasures on that hill. Enjoy a break at Stew Pot Slims on the deck. Top off the day at the World Famous Antler Bar inside the chalet before you take the chair down (there hasn't been enough snow yet to open the Canyon Trail to the parking lot so you need to download so hang on to your gear!) Report back here! HNY!

Well, it looks like it's just a matter of when this next storm gets here. We'll show up when lifts open at June Saturday. Hopefully this next warm storm waits until at least 2 or 3pm to come barging in!

Thank you, I appreciate it! Hopefully it will be open on Saturday but if not I suppose we'll be taking the long way in!

The scenic route is only about 10 minutes longer and it dumps you right out at the June Mountain parking lot!
