I find that very hard to believe. You have actually spoke to "many" people who wont go to june because they are AFRAID of chair 1? I have been on many much more frightening chairs than J1 at June.

Yes, I speak to alot of people who come here every year. Maybe "fearful" is too strong a word. Let me say many express their discomfort with riding chair one. And it is more about riding down at the end of the day as opposed to riding up. They are mostly not the younger set and they are mostly people who are new to skiing or only ski a few weekends in this area a season.
I really want to see skier numbers increase at June Mt for the health of the ski area as well as the town. But, that does not mean that I'm in favor of huge development.

No, "fearful" is accurate. I'm one of 'em. Plus, if a parent is escorting more than 1 little one its awkward with only a double chair.

You may not be worthy of June if you are fearful of riding chair 1, just my opinion. I say leave it alone, but that's just for my own selfish reasons.

The monstrosity of a chair on 9 in Mammoth is ridiculous. Now we've got everyone and their brother traversing to dragons and the face is tracked in about 15 minutes :swear: Don't worry I still know where to get mine :x

Let the flaming begin

i totally agree with you. Although, having a 6 minute chair ride instead of a 12 minute chair ride is really nice.

i agree. people usually dont explore remote areas with slow chairs. with the new high speed 9 people are poking around in a undiscovered area for them.

I think the real problem is chair lifts. The powder would last a lot longer if they had kept the rope tows.

I don't have the inside scoop like skittles kid but Rusty didn't mention anything about it in his presentation a few weeks ago. In fact he made a comment that J1 needs to be a covered unit which I took to mean some type of gondola.
