When the chairlift crosses the "Load Here" bar (and at the top, the "Stand Up Here" post), the seat is supposed to be 18" off the ground. Here's a bit of background.

For years Chair 2 has been notorious for its crew's inability to get this simple thing right. Last season a few other Mammoth chairs were also always too low. Now it's practically all the chairs -- they're all set at 12" except Chair 23 (the only one they seem to set correctly now).

Dear Mammoth:

This isn't so hard. There's a standard for a reason. Please use it.

Thank you,
ShiftyRider

It seemed like chair 2 wasn't even 12". Even with my highback pushed all the way down the bottom of the chair was hitting it. I had more than one broken cuz I forgot to fold it down. It's even worse when you're 6'4" tall. Never had that problem at June.

Of course June's just a bunny hill...

Yesterday it got me in the highbacks too. I don't know why it's so difficult to get that right.....

A couple years ago I was at Deer Valley and just before I get on a lift, up walks a Supervisor, whips out a measuring tape, and checks the height of the chair from the snow. Deer Valley customer service for you.

skiers make bumps on smooth surfaces. You can almost call them a virus on the mountains skin.

snowboarders win.

Ok...no need for a skier vs snowboard fight...its stupid. Sliding down snow is fun! some are just better than others, and the others get in the better's way...
EDIT: If the bumps bother you that much you should probably take up skiing.

All lifts need baby-proofing like you do to the coffee table in the living room. No hard edges and lots of foam padding.

I dont disagree with Shiftys point. Noticing it a lot. My pants are a little baggy and I ski. Dont think its the pants.

Great post, getting sick of having my boot get caught up under the chairs. Worse then the lazy lifty who let's the chair slam you.
