My kids have three years and about 60 days' skiing- but all at Mammoth. We've decided to skip the MVP for next year and go Mountain Collective instead. We live in Long Beach. Most likely go to Utah for Christmas, Mammoth for a couple February holidays, and Tahoe for Spring Break. Possibly add Aspen or Jackson Hole to the Christmas trip (it's "only" 2000 miles round trip LA-SLC-JH-LA or LA-Aspen-SLC-LA)

Has anybody heard rumors about the 2014/2015 Mountain Collective? Will it be offered; what mountains will be included; when will it be available; what price, etc?

Of course if we ski the MVP after 3 years, next year will probably be like 2010/2011!

Thanks

You should call The Mountain Collective directly and ask!

Brilliant idea. I always forget you can actually talk to real people instead of just scouring websites.

I called. No real info, other than there will definitely be an 14/15 pass, "last year in March, probably the same this year" and the operator doesn't think they lost any of last year's resorts, but didn't know if there are any new additions

I do this too. Wait, there are real people in customer service?

^I hope Kirkwood (Vail) gets in the mix next year and maybe throw Baker in there for kicks...

Thanks all. We went ahead and bought. Planning to get at least 7 "free" days, hopefully 9.

Too late now, but you might want to check out the Epic Pass.

"Vail Resorts has announced that the Epic Pass is now on sale for the 2014-15 season at epicpass.com. The pass provides unlimited and unrestricted skiing and riding at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin in Colorado; Canyons in Park City, Utah; Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood at Lake Tahoe; Afton Alps in Minnesota; and Mt. Brighton in Michigan for the 2014-15 winter season. New this year, the Epic Pass also offers five free consecutive ski days at Niseko United in Japan...."

Why is it "too late now"?

MCP is the same deal as last year, 2 days at each hill, 50% off the rest of the season. There is a bonus this year in you get to choose an additional free day at one hill when you sign up. Unfortunately that means making that choice now, not during the season when you know who has good snow.

Not that hard a decision when you have a Snowbird timeshare week in March. :)

Dream on. This is obviously the "anti-Vail" coalition. I'm personally pleased to see it stabilize with who they have. IMHO these are the elite resorts in North America and I hope they keep it together. It's a great perk for Mammoth Premier MVP's too.

In January I talked to Jeff Hanle in Aspen, who originated the idea 2 seasons ago.

Bought a MC pass for next year just a couple weeks after finally using this seasons. I skipped MVP renewal last spring (best year to do so!) and finally bought MC last Sep, knowing two trips to Mammoth and Squaw would pay for it. Went to Snowbird and Jackson on a 2500 mile roadtrip from Santa Barbara in Feb. JH was epic! They still have been pounded with snow. I can't see buying a single resort pass anymore - hope to add Aspen in to next years roadtrip. $359 is a deal (I paid $379 last Sep b/c it wasn't an early purchase).
Passing on using it for Squaw this weekend to go climbing instead. Snow just isn't that good in CA this year.

I opted for MM for my 3rd day next season - you guys can thank me when we finally have an average snow year again :D

From the Snow Report - https://www.skimag.com/ski-resort-life/ ... ley-obrien

Mountain Collective Superlatives:
Mammoth Mountain - Most likely to forget when the season begins and ends... if it ever does.
