Hey everyone!
We're super excited to come up tomorrow for our first days on the hill. I was hoping to head over to June on Sunday but it looks like opening day was delayed....?

Does anyone know when Canyon and Eagle plan to open this season and if Chairs 12-14 have turned yet?

Thanks :*

~Ash

Chairs 12,13 and 14 still have not run... they had in mind to open them but we need a bit more snow for each lift to load and unload. However if we get all the snow that is forecasted we might just see 12 later this weekend.

Hi snowgurl,

June opening was postponed to Wednesday, 12/14 due to lack of a good base yet, plus they needed more time blow snow. Info can be found on their website. http://www.junemountain.com/

Canyon and Eagle will open just as soon as they receive and blow enough snow. Currently the projected opening date is Wednesday, 12/14 for both. Night of Lights is on Saturday, 12/17 at Canyon so they better get it open! You can always find what lifts are in operation by checking the Lift Status page on the MMSA website.

The backside needs more snow before they can open those lifts. Maybe after this next series of storms that can happen.

Have fun!

Anyone know the status of the runs down to Canyon? Are they closed as in "keep out!" or closed as in "last year at Thanksgiving closed"? That is to say, is there enough snow to ski down to the lodge at the end of the day?

Have not checked the signs but it's a sheet of ice down to Canyon after all that rain... was hard to even take my dogs out today.

One of the supervisor at Canyon lives with us he said they open next Wednesday.

Rumor has it that MMSA is prepping Canyon for the Night of Lights on the 17th, but will close it afterwards and not open it to the public until the 21st. After this warm, wet AR event, the slim base layer of snow at Canyon has got to be compromised.

I was at Canyon yesterday... lots of people skiing down and picking up the blue line. I will ask Al about the so called rumor and see what his boss says.

If the current forecast verifies Mammoth will have no problem opening Canyon. It will be colder next week with snow levels at 7K feet or less and potentially several feet of snow. After that it gets really cold and Mammoth could easily blow enough snow if needed.

It's going to be a very interesting second half of December.

Hope it all works out for Canyon to open and remain open as scheduled. We'll just have to wait and see.

Glad we'll be heading out of state for the holidays since we didn't get to go to AZ to see my family last year due to SG's recovery from his injuries.

That seems hard to believe that they would open the 14th-18th; close the 19th and 20th and reopen on the 21st......

^ Like I said, this was just a rumor I heard (which included NOT opening on 12/14, but waiting until AFTER the Night of Lights). I, too am doubting this will happen now that they did receive some snow the other night and temps will be cold enough to blow more in the next few days.
