No problem.

For reference, I was parked off and on in the Mammoth Creek Park lot on Friday, Sat, and Sunday during the President's Day weekend, and it was largely empty. Between 4-10 cars, so plenty of spots. Was plowed on Saturday after Friday's snowfall.

The town quietly ended the temporary overnight parking program (this link changed sometime in the last 48 hours, not on Feb 2).

I'm in need of a place to legally park my car overnight on Friday and Saturday night. Does anyone know of another place, paid or free, either than the RV Park? No problem with paying $15/night at the RV Park, but it's about 2.6 miles away from where we're staying (The Bridges off of Lake Mary Rd).

Thanks in advance for anyone's advice.

There is parking along Lake Mary Road before The Bridges. Hit and miss if space is available.Walking distance.

Parking as in street parking along Lake Mary Rd's shoulder, or some kind of lot? The reason I ask is that we still fall under the "no street parking" rule through April 30th.

Thanks again.

It is off street parking on a pullout along Lake Mary Road. Cars parked there at night all the time.
Drove by late last Sunday night leaving from The Bridges.Might ask your neighbors if they are using their extra spot. I think you get 2 spots? Bottle of nice wine works great...

Noted on both options. There's a garage and two allotted driveway spots, but we're last priority when it will come to parking. Trying to avoid a headache in advance.

Thanks!

Yes, I noted that quick change of the temporary parking program as well. At first it stated the program would last through this month and then suddenly it changed that it was suspended.

Twins is correct. On Lake Mary Road almost across from Discovery 4 condos is legal overnight parking in a large pullout. It's only a short hoof up to The Bridges from there. Otherwise, no, there is no where else to legally park overnight so the RV Park would be it if friends could pick you and your stuff up there.

Found it on the satellite map. We'll give it a shot, otherwise to the RV Park we go!

Cheers to you both.

I believe that parking on Lake Mary Rd is for Tyrolean Village condos.

Oh, I believe that mtbphoto is correct. I forgot about the Tyrolean Village condos being just below that area. I'm guessing the vehicles parked there have hanging window stickers to i.d. them?

Be watchful psg!

One other possibility is drive up Bridges Road past the complex. Keep going up and to your left. There is a house under construction with some parking available. Not sure what it looks like now with all this snow though. Might be buried.
Good luck and have a fun trip.

Thanks! FYI, about half of the cars at that turnout have green hangtags, which I suspect are for the neighboring complex (as you've mentioned). We didn't want to risk it. We did a pass through the neighborhood and construction was on-going at that house from morning to evening all weekend--must be on a time-crunch at that job!

Ended up parking at the Mammoth RV Park in their overflow lot, which is a giant, muddy mess. Don't park there unless you have AWD or 4x4, or you WILL get stuck. Walked a good 3 miles on Sunday morning to retrieve our car...and it appears I ran over a screw in that muddy mess while backing into a spot. Flat tire. And everything is closed on Sunday morning (Goodyear, NAPA, and even the auto stuff down in Bishop).

Happy end to this story is that I called up Jose @ JR Tire [(760) 937-0071 ยท 1422 Tavern Rd C-3. Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546], and even though he's closed on Sunday, came out to his shop early on a Sunday morning. He patched the tire up at a reasonable cost, and we were on our way. Still good people in this world.

Terrible luck all weekend, but oh well, at least we had a good day on Saturday on the hill.

You said you walked three miles to fetch your car that Sunday morning. I thought the Purple Line bus stops at the RV Park. Was it too early?

Sorry about your flat, but glad you could get it repaired. We have some good business people here!

I don't believe that line starts running that early; ~6:30-7 AM when I started walking. Weather was nice, no one was out driving yet, and the cheeseburger birds were chirping, so no complaints about the walk.

Also FYI, you gotta move your car out of the RV Park overflow lot before 11 AM the next morning.

Yeah, that would have been too early for that bus line.

Ah, the Cheeseburger birds...a sure sign of spring around here! :)
