Bottom line from Rusty: we will run for the public as long as we have paying race camps going, once those are gone we will shut down.

There are camps now booked until August

This was on the MMSA FB page today 5/26/17:

Summer shredding - Mammoth will be open into August! With a current base depth of 120” at Main Lodge and 270” at the summit, Mammoth will be operating DAILY into August for one of our longest seasons in history. When will this endless winter end? We don’t have that answer yet, but we do know that the skiing and riding is all-time right now. Get out there and get your summer shred on with us.

skittles et al
still no word on when the season will either go full circle or have a set closing date sometime in August.
All eyes on Rusty, most guess, with the final decision but Rusty ( relegating himself the last few years) organized a team of Execs to run the ops the team is on a wait and see*...one name has not emerged in this thread - Greg Dallas replacement's M. Brownlie, COO. Same person mostly responsible for the return of the download option last season.

So if Brownlie will continue downloading then the broadway rule is dead. By now we'll add another rule, the race camps rule**.....Camps this season up to mid Aug. But hold on, if memory serves me right the Mtn in the past has closed to the public BUT opened for camps then shutting it all down***...hmmmm.

I've been monitoring the melt rate and my best guess is lower broadway should melt out by July 4th with farming sustaining the WROD going til downloading is mandatory around the 2nd week of July at the latest. As far as closing date it's anyone's guess. They make money on holidays so if making it til Labor Day would be ideal. Btw, ch 3 WROD is more dangerous than ch1.

* heat waves, monsoonal flows, cooler summer, public interest...all factors dictating the closing date
**I'd like to see the terms in which either side can opt out of a booking
***example in 2009...

Does anyone know how late in August the camps are booked until?

How does that mesh up with Dave's bday?

These are "things that make you go hmmmmm".

The unusually hot weather may have killed their chances of staying open until August.

I've read the the paths along the top have been repaired. SnS, what can you tell us about the entrance to Cornice? I'm counting on skiing that run into August this year, and Mammoth has indicated that they will GROOM into August just so I can. But the entrance to the face of 3, and to the Cornice, can really get worn out this time of year after a couple of hours of skier traffic.

We'll be up later in the week, and I'm hoping they keep the entrances in good shape, and that they have enough salt remaining to ski us into August.

The top of Cornice is a wrod. Well a white ribbon anyway. Lots of snow farming needed to keep it going. Same for 23. All dirt on the right side as you exit the chair. Plenty of snow on the left side.

Face and backside of 3 have good coverage. Climax and Cornice are still good too. Wipe Out chutes and Paranoids about done.

Sky line is about out of snow... if we ski into August you will be walking the dirt to get to Cornice.

Thanks for the reports ... I guess. :( They weren't quite what I hoped to hear, but they were pretty much what I expected, given the recent heat wave.

It will be interesting to see how the summer season progresses. We'd better get up there soon if we want to ski.

July 5 was $56, so $28 with bring-a-friend or Mountain Collective.
