I'm guessing this will be the first time chair 9 has been open on Memorial Day. Amazing.

I'm really happy that they decided to open chair 17 this weekend so I don't have to drive up and down the hill deal with that traffic.

My second trip to Mammoth was the weekend of May 13-14, 1978. Only chairs 7,13,14 and 15 were closed. I was staying on Davison and got on the mountain via chairs 8 and 9.

I know that Canyon Lodge was open Memorial weekend of 1983 but don't know about chair 9 as I wasn't there.

Depending upon wind direction during the biggest storms there is a lot of variability in coverage between the chair 14 and chair 9 sides of the mountain. This season has definitely favored the chair 9 side. Civerage has been lost on the backside in 2017 much earlier than in 1995 and 2011.
