How are things holding up? Debating coming up this weekend for the first trip of the year to test out my recently scoped knees. May pass if it's boilerplate. :o

^ Definitely NOT boilerplate! The wind machine has been on since last week making for free refills. The snow has been soft, silky and sugar-like (as of last Thurs. when I skied). A friend of mine who was skiing in the wind storm today after the dusting of snow we got last night/early this morning said she found some great snow in the trees. Conditions on the groomers should be perfect to try out your repaired knee!

I'm going back out tomorrow for my b-day because...well, it's my b-day! :D

Day 3 on my 62nd birthday. Super cold...19 in town, 14 at Main Lodge with bracing upslope wind today giving us more free refills. Snow is superb! Had a blast skiing with Cruzer, Junebug and skibum4ever and met RBS for lunch. MMSA has perfect conditions to blow lots of snow now. Celebratory dinner at The Mogul this evening with SG. What an awesome birthday! :)

^ Thanks Shifty! It was definitely one of the top birthday ski days. Last year it was a blizzard with poor conditions, but I got up there and made two runs just to say I wasn't a wuss on my b-day...LOL! ;) :D

Snow does look good. Supposed to be 50* at Main Lodge this weekend so get it while it lasts.

Highs in the upper 40s with a east breeze... the snow is not going anywhere. Not to mention the sun is so low in the sky at this time of year.

Perfect laps on the runs that are open, stay off the top.

Made some laps today. First day on snow. Good groomers off the open chairs. Tried to move around, sample what was there. Started to get a little sugar-on-hardpack after about 11. But overall stoked my knees worked. Never made it over to 12. No way was I going near the top. Hope this high pressure lifts before the holidays.

Cornice is now groomed and skiing and riding much better then last weeks freeze and NE wind fest.

With the warm up and traffic from the weekend the lower Drop Outs apron is wind buff with soft snow floating all around.

Groomers are fast and FUN.... :)

Good coverage on the runs leading down to Canyon and Eagle, amazing what the snowmaking crew has got done in the last week.

Snow at canyon is ok, needs to be groomed and skied more. Took 22 up and hit the back side. One of my worst runs ever. Seems like it was groomed a week or more ago, it was a mix of firm pack and ice all the way down to 9 ( 9 is closed ). The couple runs that are open to eagle are covered they are just rock hard. My knee no like... Snow at Main is still a ton of fun.

SL: We share the same birthday! It was my 65th, didn't ski it but drove that day to ski Dec. 5-7. http://www.firsttracksonline.com/boards ... =3&t=12514

I thought wind would shut down the top Monday, turns out the wind didn't hit hardest until that night. So as on Nov. 21-22 I had to deal with hardpack/boilerplate on the steepest entries up top and missed the window of that week after Thanksgiving when Dave's and the Paranoids were open. If you could handle the windy and sastrugi strewn traverse in from Cornice, the skiing on Drop Out 3 and the apron under chair 23 down to St. Anton was the smooth Mammoth windbuff we all love.

Snowman's reports nailed it. Groomers were midwinter wide and uniformly excellent surfaces. Ungroomed skiing on chairs 5 and 12 was not affected by the upslope wind and only a little bit on chair 3. So overall a nice trip, particularly for early December and what it's like in Tahoe, UT and CO by comparison.

^ Happy belated, Tony! I didn't know we shared the same birthday date!

I was out again today (12/14) with friends visiting from Colorado and the groomers are still in great shape and lots of fun! We stayed on the Main Lodge side, but neighbors of ours were on the Eagle/Canyon side today and they thought the snow over there was fine for what they have blown. I probably won't ski again until after the new year, but skating will be on the agenda as long as there's no snowfall in sight.

Who remembers Snowave from the forum? He and his wife now live on a ranch in Pagosa Springs, CO. Great to see them again!
