[carryover from the Baldy discussion in another thread (thanks 6IX)]

Well last season was awesome -- they fed us, ran for a month after everywhere else closed, and Chair 3 spun til 6. And next season will be insane cuz the diehards have dedicated themselves to the (much-needed) honing of skills at Snow Summit the last few months...

When I was in college (which wasn't that long ago) lift tickets at Baldy were ~$19. Now the dailies are quite a bit more than that.

They're advertising the crap out of the resort at Ontario Reign games. I know we're at mother nature's mercy...but it seems a bit irresponsible to offer multi-hundred dollar winter season passes with no guarantee of a single day on snow for the entire season.

:!: I believe as part of the tie-in, the lift crew has been instructed to use a hockey stick instead of a shovel to reach up and pound on the delicate parts of the machinery...

As you know, it used to be Bring a Slat to Baldy Week. Thank you for observing all the improvements! A week's worth of slats would be way too many.

  • AHL (Ontario Reign) Rule 3.2 – Broken Stick. A player or goaltender without a stick may participate in the game. A player or goaltender whose stick has been broken must drop the broken portions to the ice immediately.

  • Mt. Baldy Rule 3.2 – Broken Slat. A chairlift without a slat may be designated with caution tape. A skier or snowboarder whose butt has inched between broken slats must grasp the safety bar as the broken portions drop to the ice immediately.

So everything you’re saying makes sense because last season was awesome, this season was nonexistent (hence why no one used the New Topic button), and next season will (hopefully) be insane, like many we’ve had.

Any questions!?

My favorite tele run in the world is Skyline ~70% of the way from left-to-right.

If Snow Valley can upgrade their longest lift, a very old two seater, I have hope that Baldy will eventually do the same.

Still a good 7 or 8 hundred ft of good vert on the S side of San Ant. Reports from San G wilderness are icy w rescues.
