Get ready for the Prius drivers out there this season but only on the mountain.

Ya know, unless there is unique physical reasons, why is there a niche for ebikes @ a bigass liftserved mountain?

Gonna play the devil's advocate here - I get the purist angle, and honestly believe that MTB is one of the the most physically demanding activities anywhere (which is a good thing IMHO) - but how would you even know if someone else is on an e-bike, and why would you care?

Dragging a damn cord around and riding w smug expressions...lol

Ski areas are reluctant to allow uphill travel. If youre @ the ski area you ride the lifts and ski down. You want to ski up there is 500miles of Sierra surrounding you.

Up and down sharing in the same controlled space does not make sense. Mammoths trails are good but not to climb to ride when there are lifts and there are 100sqmi surrounding. Your average DH rider isnt climbing to hit the jumps. Your average XC rider isnt riding lifts.

And you can look at a bike and see it is electric.

I don't MTB much, but you can tell it's an e-bike when you're on an incline (even a slight gradual grade) and you see someone chugging along at a good clip with a perfectly normal cadence.

Especially when it's an old dude and they're not even breaking a sweat uphill. :D

Deaths among cyclists in the Netherlands have actually doubled since e-bikes have become a thing. Old folks keep wrecking themselves on them. Whether that's because e-bikes make cycling more accessible to the elderly, or that they reach higher speeds without much effort with a population with slower reflexes, or that population is less likely to wear a helmet while riding a bike; it's not really clear yet.
