Sad news out of Bishop.

After struggling to make ends meet, the beautiful Mountain Light Gallery in the old bank bldg on the corner is due to close. The family soldiered on following the tragic deaths of Barbara and Galen Rowell in 2002, but the market for fine art prints has slowly shrunk.

I invested in some larger prints bitd, and I'm proud to have them displayed in my home to this day.

For those that have not stopped in there, you've truly missed a unique Eastern Sierra experience. Galen's eye for time and place and light were unmatched. He was a very renowned rock climber before and after he became a famous photographer.

Definitely sad news I frequently recommended that my photographer friends check it out.

Full article on Page 4 of last week's Sheet News. So sad. It was a beautiful gallery and Galen was phenomenal.

Sad to hear that the gallery is closing. Galen was an amazing climber and photographer that was able to share his world with us and left us all too soon. It will be interesting to see what kind of business will occupy the bank building. I have 2 Tony Rowell prints in my living room.

I remember when it was the bank of Mammoth back in 82'.

I also remember when the earthquake knocked the bricks off the front.
