I've been hearing the sounds a helicopter around town this afternoon. Is something up?

We heard it most of the day, too. Saw the ship once and it appeared to be hovering over by the USFS boneyard/heli pad. Maybe they were doing some SAR training? We heard no pilot traffic on our scanner.

It sounded like a USFS Sikorsky. With the fire danger so high this summer, it is a sound I am hoping not to hear. Especially so close to town.

It definitely was not a Sikorsky since I saw the ship once. We've been SO lucky, so far this summer, not to have had an fires close to us...yet. The one north of Lee Vining and the one in Lower Rock Creek were scary enough!
