When hiking up to the Sherwin last weekend, I noticed a many piles of logs everywhere! Were there that many downed trees, or is there some kind of pest killing trees? The walk-in campsites at sherwin are basically out in the open now because all the trees were cut down.

The downed trees along the trail could be from a combination of pest infestation plus the heavy snow load from winter. It's my understanding that the USFS cut down and cleaned up numerous hazard trees in the Sherwin Creek campground last fall since that area was unnaturally overgrown.
