WZ, whats the info on that big avalanche on the road going to Mt Rose?

That happened Tuesday evening as far as I know. Right at the crest of Mt. Rose Highway 431. Approx 20 feet of snow covered the road. The road was closed for a day, it has been reopened. Just checked the web cams, light snow falling as we speak. I have not been back since 27 January. Too much bad weather and nasty road conditions. I need to pack my overnight Reno bag if I do decide to go.

Hope this helps Cheapski

Not certain if anyone not on FB can view this, but here is some cool footage from NDOT of crews clearing the avalanche debris from Mt. Rose Hwy.

Went out of my comfort zone yesterday. With the Sugar Bowl pass you 2 days at Squaw/Alpine. Made the trip with two co-workers. We had a exceptional day, small crowd, fresh groomers and some open skiing. I will be back to Squaw very soon.

Just an excellent day...light wind...temps were mild. Went from 900am to 400pm. I was worked. Squaw has some serious steeps !!!

Thursday, June 1 2017. Probably my last day on the slopes. I have neglected so many chores at home it is time to catch up.
Squaw was still showing the goods....snow was great, skied till 12:30.
I cannot say enough about the last two months of skiing here. Mt. Rose and Squaw made the Spring season big fun !

Started off on Siberia Bowl

Shirley Lake-Gold Coast-Big Blue lifts were all skied

Can we get back to winter? The Southern Sacramento Valley at 100 degrees everyday is taking it's toll on me.
