Not sure the US saw Germany with their foot fully on the gas today, but will certainly take it. I'd say it's Germany and Argentina, then everyone else at this point. Even Brazil has looked sub-par (for them). One thing is for sure; Belgium is not Germany - not even close.

Well Germany sure wasn't playing to tie. They were in to win. US D was just good enough to stifle most of the German O. US back line had their hands full for most of the match.

Jurgy sure was pleased, anyway.

^^^ Got to say was fun to watch. Was nice to see everyone was jubilant and upbeat even after losing... coach, players and crowd.
No losers in this game.
Guess from here on it gets serious.

Sorry Adolph. Not by a longshot.
I'd rather see NED v Columbia or NED v Brazil.

Or what I'd really like to see is NED v ... COSTA RICA.

I'm very close to a Dutch family that lives in Costa Mesa, I'm sure they had an exciting 5 minutes this morning. Go NED....

All sports are fixed Mr. Rider. Do you know how much Hanley made for messing up Clayton's perfect game with that terrible throw????

Algeria. Damn they played GER hard. They just couldn't get a ball over Mertesacher's fat head.
They did show some German weaknesses though. Too bad, now GER and FRA have to just beat each other to a pulp for me to be happy.

Disappointed the US couldn't pull out the game especially that almost goal in stoppage time...so close! But Belgium outplayed the US the entire game and without Howard's heroics it wouldn't have been close. Nice to see so much interest in the World Cup around the US including a large crowd watching today's game at Petco Park in SD.

Wait 'til next time!

^ very fair assessment

Howard was impressive.

He is great on long shots and balls in the air, but he is pretty bad at positioning when the ball is being played on the ground in the area. He seems to get lost.

The US played attractively the last 10 minutes of extra time. If they would have gone after Belgium like that from jump, they would've earned some respect. Instead, they played anti-soccer and still could've been down 4 goals if Belgium executed better shots and Howard didn't boss it from goal.

I'm riding with Colombia from here on out. They look really good ... and without Radmael Falcao!

You just can't sit and defend that long. 1st half of aet was bad. US was gassed, but they showed some heart in the second. Belgium ain't playing that good. I wasn't impressed w/ Zusi. He was wearing lead boots today. Yetlin put some great runs in w/ super crosses. No one home to receive them.

Hey WZ, you going to add anything to the discussion or just post pix of your boyfriends?
