The wind is stronger where I am but its blowing the smoke offshore so its actually clear here for the first time in 5 days. Unfortunately its blowing the fire right up to Sonoma city limits so there are mandatory evacs in place since this morning.

This is that interactive satellite view of the burned out area in Santa Rosa. There was so much focus on that one subdivision that I didnt realize how much greater the burned area is to the NE. I guess thats how the fire got all the way down there. I had thought the fields would be buffers but in those winds I guess flying embers went over those.

Chris Fire (Chris Flat in Walker Canyon). Started around 11:07 a.m. Jeep Cherokee that rolled several times, went 40 feet down an embankment, caught fire and was fully engulfed. Driver got out okay, but taken by ambulance to be checked. Fire is burning on both sides of the highway and it 200+ acres in high winds. 395 is closed in both directions with detours. Structure protection requested for the town of Walker as this fire crests over to Terry Canyon.

The Chris Fire is holding at 370 acres. 395 reopened in both directions yesterday, but fire personnel and equipment are still on scene. Low rate of spread today and it's raining lightly up there right now.
