Check out KHON's video channel, they have on the ground video.

A 6.9 quake is pretty strong for there. It seems like this will be one of the stronger eruptive phases we've seen in modern times.

One of the news stories stated that during these earthquakes residents can hear the ground cracking beneath them..
A 6.9 magmatude is a very respectable quake...
The 6.9 came exactly one hour to the minute after a 5.4 hit.

Amazing to see the rift open in the backyard of homes.

Check this out on the USGS site. Steam starts out from a crack in the roadway and eventually becomes a lava spewing fissure.

If anyone else is as interested as I am (not likely) there is a chronology in photos of whats been going on (newest first).
The good things about Hawaiian volcanoes is they give gentle warnings.

Easily the most incredible video of the eruption I've seen and quite possibly the most incredible video I've ever seen of any volcanic eruption.

How are these photogs able to stay so close? I would think the heat and the sulfur dioxide would be really awful.

Some of the ones in the videos have pretty good face masks on to protect them from the fumes. Seems like the heat, fumes, and flying lava would be incredibly dangerous.

I was very impressed at the flying lava hitting the roof that guy was on.

This news site is having continuous reporting on it. The replays of their broadcast show new aerial views and the lava is now flowing whereas it was staying near the fissures before. It seems like things are more active.
