I burned the new U2 music to a CD and listened to it on my road trip to Mammoth and Yosemite. It's okay. Not bad but not a single song stood out for me. Pretty ho hum response from me. Seems to me that if you're going to make this big of a deal the music should be amazing. I wonder if they are saving the good stuff for their next CD that they'll sell.

Seems like after 5 years they could have written a few GREAT songs.

That's what I said when I emailed them a few of my songs. I even offered to let them claim they wrote them. Bono probably just didn't like the idea of switching over to hip hop, screw 'em.

I bet one of the songs was titled "Yellow Hummer" and another one was a protest song about the TBID...

Can't imagine why they wouldn't want your songs...

U2 already has a new album in the can, they just made Apple pay $$$$ for the songs that didn't make the cut.

I wasn't blown away... but I generally liked it from the 1st listen.. and since then, it has grown on me even more. I feel it's a great mix of new, old and bits and pieces of the bands many influences/inspirations. Overall, the lyrics are good, and the instrumental composition of most of the album is very good. Do I LOVE it? Not quite... but I like it alot.

I feel comfortable saying that I think it's their best work since Achtung.

I'm not sure we will ever hear anything again from them as good as the stuff from Achtung and before.

I had heard Bono was injured but I didn't realize how bad it was:

The singer had a "high-energy bicycle accident" when he tried to avoid another rider Sunday at Central Park, according to New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was treated. The hospital released details on his injuries for the first time Wednesday night.

Bono underwent hours of multiple surgeries after the accident, it said.

He broke his arm in six spots, fractured his eye socket and also his shoulder blade -- the latter in three places, according to Dr. Dean Lorich, a trauma surgeon at the hospital.

Doctors operated on him for five hours Sunday, which included repairing his bone with three metal plates and 18 screws, Lorich said in a statement.

A day later, he had surgery on his left hand to repair a fracture.

"He will require intensive and progressive therapy. However, a full recovery is expected," the doctor said.

How ironic it happened on a Sunday. Here's to a quick recovery....

Nice mullet....

And what does "high-energy bicycle accident" mean? Was he on too many Red Bulls or 5 Hour Energys?

Well, no U2 at the KROQ show, but we're still looking forward to it.

The good news (for now) is that we just got our first set of pre-sale tickets for Los Angeles!!! We're going to be broke by Monday when all of the shows go on sale. Right now we're planning the opener in Vancouver, then Los Angeles. Right now the only European show we're thinking of is Barcelona!!!
