I just found out today that the trolley will only be running until ten. I depended on the night trolley to get around town and mostly to get to and from the bars at night. I think this will really hurt businesses in the village. Most of my friends and I depended on the night trolley to get to the village now we don't know what were gonna do. Most of us don't have cars and the ones that do don't want to drive drunk. Walking is a pain in the winter. This makes it a big deterrent for locals and tourist to go spend there money at bars if they have to worry about walking or finding a sober driver. It cant cost to much to run the shuttle a couple more hours. If anything they should have the trolley run late on the weekends.

There actually is an evening hospitality shuttle that starts today and runs on the hour until Midnight. Google Mammoth Winter Bus and it will link you to the winter schedule.

There is. Hkyfsh is correct.

The info on the MMSA free shuttle service is right here on the MMSA website.

The Hospitality Shuttle never begins until just before Thanksgiving each year then runs throughout the winter season.

That shuttle only picks up once an hour and has limited pickup spots unlike the night trolley we did have. We had that shuttle last year and and in no way can be seen as a replacement of what we had. Plus it only runs until midnight, most people like to stay at the bars later than that. The evening hospitality shuttle wont help much in getting people to and from the bars.

Nothing has been the same since MMSA cut their budget drastically last year and laid off 135+ full time employees in the middle of the season. My guess is they had to cut back on the shuttle service, too.

The Mammoth Taxi might be the best bet! Nothing like the Captain (Morgan) Taxi diving you around!!

Good news...late night bus service for this winter has been reinstated by ESTA/TOML!

In today's Mammoth Times Town Council article on the front page:

Quote:
In the final piece of short-term action, the council authorized the Eastern Sierra Transit Authority (ESTA) to return to late-night winter service.

The action, which would guarantee service until 2 a.m. during the ski season, came after an impassioned plea from Mammoth Mountain Ski Area vice-president Bill Cockroft, who said the proposed cutoff of 10 p.m. would place Mammoth somewhere “between Big Bear and Crested Butte,” and that it would be untenable for a town that strongly believes in a “feet-first” approach to mobility.

ESTA leader John Helm said his agency could not achieve that goal unless the council could find more money than it allowed last summer, when the council made first round of proposed cuts.

In response, the council on Wednesday diverted $25,000 that it had allocated for its unspecified (as yet) volunteer programs throughout the town.

Marysheva-Martinez said it was an easy fix, in that the allocation was not cutting a program; rather, it was using money for a program that has yet to get off the ground.

The article didn't say and it hasn't been added to the maps yet. My guess is it will operate closer to the holidays as they will most likely have to hire more drivers.

In this week's Mammoth Times:

Trolley to run until 2 a.m. beginning Dec. 21

Quote:
Eastern Sierra Transit is excited to announce the extension of the Night Trolley until 2 a.m. starting Dec. 21 through the winter season. The distinctive red and green trolleys will operate seven nights a week from 5:40 p.m. to 2 a.m. with stops every 20 minutes. The Night Trolley serves Canyon Lodge to the Village, then along Main Street and Old Mammoth Road with the route terminating at Snowcreek Athletic Club. Last Trolley departs Canyon Lodge at 1:40 a.m. and Snowcreek Athletic Club at 1:40 a.m.
