we are new homeowners in ML, but have travelled to Mammoth many times over the last 15-18 years. I am a X-cty skier (not very experienced, but teachable), and absolutely love to hike. From my perspective, this has been an epic winter so far, because while there is snow, there is not so much so hiking is still very doable. MY family plans to use our home all four seasons.

Welcome Luv2Hike and congrats on your new home here!

Pray for snow for better xc skiing up at Tamarack plus free skiing in the Shady Rest area in town (once there is snow, grooming and track setting in Shady Rest will be courtesy of the USFS and Friends of the Inyo http://friendsoftheinyo.org/foiD7/).

thank you, Sierra Lady!
Looking forward to trying out new XC ski areas (once we have SNOW!) and getting more competent. Loved your Steinbeck quote. perfect.

We don't do snow in the valley. Come on down.

Man made snow goes only so far.

Couldn't agree with you more. So the snow is not great but there is so much more to Mammoth! We should take advantage of all the hiking, biking and even fishing ( which is good) that is available to us now. We will get through this Winter, so lets focus on the Summer and hopefully no fires.

Not to leave out one of the biggest recreational deals that goes on in Bishop all winter-rock climbing.
