I have skied on and off for many years and finally have the time to sharpen my skills. My goal is to get confident enough to ski with friends and be in control.

I used to ski at Copper Mountain at the Club Med there and really loved it, skiing with my group at just the right level and having lots of fun at the lodge later. I came to Mammoth for the first time 2 years ago and, wow, it is really...mammoth! So I skied off of Eagle Chair and felt pretty comfortable there. I'll be up there again in a week or so and hope to "graduate" to the tougher runs. But I'm wondering...should I take some kind of advanced beginner lesson or a private lesson? I don't know which runs to do next, and I sure don't want to end up at some double black run by mistake!

Looking forward to my next Mammoth adventure!

Lessons are a great way to improve your skills. If you plan to continue to ski then they are a great investment. There are plenty of blue runs on Mammoth and as long as you stay on the lower half of the mountain you should be fine. It's pretty hard to accidently end up on a black run on Mammoth.

Yo girl! Hopefully, you will take advantage of the ten dudes to every dudette situation in Mammoth and get some young gentleman to personally escort you all over the hill. You will learn how to do Mammoth the right way in no time. Stay tuned to the forum and keep it tight!

Once you go black you never come back!

Thanks, guys. I think I will take the upper level lesson, and stick to the blues on the lower half like you said.

Hey, I did do a black run at Snow Summit once, so I will get there again, slowly but surely. :)
