On Mammoth's Instagram story they showed that you now walk straight out of the top gondola building onto the snow no stairs.

At least we get a break this weekend and part of next week. Maybe I will actually be able to get out and ski then...what a concept!

Driving up on MLK day for a week, so getting up this time won't be an issue. It looks like that storm is starting out on the wet side on Wednesday. Will it get colder, drier, or another somewhat sloppy week? Answer me please Crystal Ball.

Sure glad I bailed last week at the last moment with a little help from my friends, as it does not look like the skiing, up to now at least, would have been worth the risk. There was a bit of synchronicity about that decision, as the morning we would have left, the "engine oil" light came on. Nothing more than a bad sensor, but certainly a message from the universe nonetheless.

It's absolutely dumping this morning! By far the hardest I've seen this week and it's cold light powder. Only about 6" so far by Eagle but this is the type of snow that will add up quickly.

I was thinking that looking at the cams this morning. It looks like it's dumping way harder than it has all week!

I slipped and fell twice walking to Canyon Lodge from the parking lot - I needed some of those chains for my hiking boots. Getting crowded already and the line for 8 is getting long. We finally have some Platinum Powder.

Not sure this pic shows just how hard it's dumping. No wind either!

Howard issued a Platinum Powder Alert this AM. 12" of 15:1 so far, with another 12" expected today.
This is the first PP of the season. What a nice conclusion to this series of storms.

Buy Icetrekkers at Footloose (in the shoe section hanging on the wall by their store room door). We swear by them!

I have the R1 version - just regular chains. https://www.icetrekkers.com/product/chains

Just before the storm series began I bought SG the R2 version - diamond grip chains. https://www.icetrekkers.com/product/diamond

It continued to snow last night and it is snowing heavily now. Since I can't measure our railing any longer, since it is buried, it appears another 3-5" fell at our elevation. 395 is shutting down northbound at Deadman due to several jack-knifed big rigs and cars going off the highway! Accident on Sherwin Grade a little while ago, too.

Almost sealed in...we can still see a little light at the very top of the snow bank.
