Acid seems like the wrong move. Mushrooms seem more eclipse friendly.

i get what you are saying and mushys would be fun if it was just like a hike thing but in this case you actually have to use ropes for parts of that place more so to get back down and this is possibly not good on mushys but is good on acid and it can be planned better like peaking on the summit for the eclipse and then doing the rap after you have stopped melting and people used to do this often and were called stone masters but the thing is the parking issue so maybe another peak. thanks bye

looks like a lot of glasses are being sold that aren't up to snuff for viewing, even ones that have the ISO info printed on them, so be careful if you buy glasses. Got this message from Amazon today on the glasses I got.

And don't forget if you drop acid your pupils will dilate and you will be at extra risk!

Hello,

We’re writing to provide you with important safety information about the eclipse products you purchased on Amazon (order #111-8839935-3576243 for Daylight Sky G021 Plastic Solar Eclipse Glasses with Carry Case, Adult Size, CE and ISO Tested, Safe Solar Viewing, (3 Glasses and 3 Cases), 3 Piece).

To protect your eyes when viewing the sun or an eclipse, NASA and the American Astronomical Society (AAS) advise you to use solar eclipse glasses or other solar filters from recommended manufacturers. Viewing the sun or an eclipse using any other glasses or filters could result in loss of vision or permanent blindness.

Amazon has not received confirmation from the supplier of your order that they sourced the item from a recommended manufacturer. We recommend that you DO NOT use this product to view the sun or the eclipse.

Amazon is applying a balance for the purchase price to Your Account (please allow 7-10 days for this to appear on Your Account). There is no need for you to return the product. You can view your available balance and activity here:

Actually I need some help from you handy people.

My binocs broke a long time ago so all I have is a small 8 x 21 scope, its about 5" long so its small. I dont own a tripod to mount it on to project. What contraption can I make so I can angle it steady? Is this a duct tape job?

Nice video segment about the eclipse in the heartland by CBS.
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/preparing-f ... e-of-2017/

Also NOVA will be airing a documentary that night.

NOVA “Solar Eclipse” (w.t.)Premieres on Monday, August 21, 2017, 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET

On Monday August 21, 2017, America’s eyes will be glued to the skies as the mainland United States experiences the first total solar eclipse since 1979. NOVA will capture the spectacular event in a special presentation to air hours after it takes place.

This extraordinary cosmic spectacle will pass through 13 states, and everyone in the continental U.S. will have the opportunity to see at least a partial eclipse, making it the most widely viewable eclipse of all time. Commencing at 10:15 a.m. PDT (1:15 p.m. EDT), a lunar shadow 73 miles wide will take one hour and 33 minutes to travel from Oregon on the west coast to South Carolina on the east, allowing continuous observation for 90 minutes.

There's something almost Victorian about so many people participating in a single natural event.

More from NASA

This is the first time a total solar eclipse has gone from one American coast to the other since 1918. It will also be the first time in U.S. history that a total solar eclipse will make landfall exclusively on U.S. soil, meaning it will not be visible from any other country. (This technically happened in 1257 — but, of course, the United States wasn't a country way back then.)

For that reason, some are calling this upcoming celestial event the "Great American Eclipse."
