Ah Monterey confirmed the smoke.

Visible satellite reveals smoke aloft that has
made it as far north as Monterey Bay and the Santa Cruz
Mountains. A reverse Hysplit trajectory confirms the air source
over Monterey originated from southern California.

Is it like a Triple Salchow (getting in Olympic fever here)

That big river of moisture from the tropics looks impressive spanning the Pacific to SoCal until you realize nothing is coming out of it.

I guess this is the part of smoke that is weather..
Via LOX -
"Smoke from the Thomas Fire will be an impact for many folks today. Less wind will allow the smoke to spread out into more areas, then later today west winds are expected near the beaches which will push smoke into all of southern Ventura County as well as many communities in Los Angeles County. This image is a model projection for late afternoon with purple showing the heaviest smoke conditions."

Factoid from LOX this morning.

The GFS forecasts onshore flow next Saturday. If this is a correct
forecast it would mean that SoCal will have had continuous
offshore flow for 13 consecutive days. There have only been 17
streaks longer than 13 days since 1948. The record being a nearly
inconceivable 24 days in row back in Dec/Jan of 1951.

MODIS Yesterday...smoke be gone. not for awhile.
Image
Lox this AM -
"All bets are off for temps across the central coast where the smoke could wreak havoc
with the temps (yesterday slo Airport with smoke was 6 degrees
cooler than the city of slo and Santa Ynez was 11 degrees cooler
than the day before due to a thick layer of sun blocking smoke)"

Actually, it blows.

That satellite looks more interesting out over the Pacific. Perhaps there's hope?

The RH is still single digits here at 5%! Chatsworth and Malibu at 2%. Malibu Hills wins at 1%. You guessed it, a NE wind.
Don't believe any of the models...they have no clue.
