My friend in Colfax said they had a really strong cell around 6 this evening that then went to Roseville.

Nothing exciting yesterday moser, but today after lunch we had a brief hail storm that left the streets white for a few minutes then a good downpour. Sky is looking very dark in town right now so hoping for more rain tonight. Sure hope folks that went in the bc this weekend checked the wx first!

We started to see some rain here around 8:00 a.m., then it stopped, then it started, and stopped again, but now it's sprinkling. Waiting for the deluge. Come on Ma Nature!

Either thats some incredibly thick rain drops falling @ the McCoy cam or I'm having winter withdrawals...

Edit: Yup, withdrawals

^ Nope, those were phat snow flakes cuz I saw them on the McCoy cam, too. The storm never really materialized here in town, but just sprinkled on and off part of the day. The forecast is still calling for 80% chance tonight, so I haven't given up hope. The clouds are making for a lovely sunset however.

All hope was gone when the 80% chance of something never produced here last night. It was storming all around us and I heard it poured in Bishop last night, but nada in Mammoth. Looked like it was going to do something here all day today, but we got skunked again. :(

According to this lightning detector
http://www.blitzortung.org/Webpages/ind ... &page_0=35

it should be pretty interesting up at Mammoth and June right now.

^ Oh it was indeed! Began to rain a little around 3:30 then the sky became real dark with black clouds, the lightning struck right over our condo, the thunder shook it and the heavens opened up! Enjoyed a nice show, but turned off the PC for an hour after we had a brief power surge. It cooled down from 83° to 67° in an hour and a half...lovely! Hoping the downpour washed most of the pine pollen away because my allergies have been horrible the past 3 weeks...ugh!

There were quite a few random lightning strikes around the region, some sparking single tree fires, but the agencies seemed to have gotten a handle on all of them quickly, thank goodness. Now we just have to worry about the hold-overs.

Videos of monsoonal storm right above our condo around 3:15...very cool! Down strike vegetation fire near the Arcularius Ranch north of here, another smoke seen near the first fire, smoke seen in the old Rainbow Fire location near Rainbow Falls and a transformer was hit in the Ghetto and the power is out throughout that neighborhood.

Wow, that's a great shot, especially considering it's from the McCoy cam!
