Ok the H is supposed to retro and the trough is supposed to fill in and the weather is supposed to get hot but no mention of the monsoon coming up the W side of the H. To me it looks like the machine is on so the retro should bring it back into E CA right?

I would hope so. If it's going to get hot and steamy again I'd at least like to see some precip. It's just felt gross outside the last week or so. But if this is a sign of the upcoming winter's precip then I'll take it! That being said I still miss my marine layer in the morning and high of 75 with ocean breezes in the afternoon.

BY WEDNESDAY EVENING...MORE SUBTROPIC AIR WILL FILTER INTO THE AREA

THERE WILL CONTINUE TO BE VERY JUICY AIR BEING USHERED IN WITH THE
MONSOONAL FLOW THROUGH AT LEAST SATURDAY....AND LIKELY INTO SUNDAY.
THE SAME SYNOPTIC PATTERN IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGH AT LEAST
SATURDAY WITH SE TO S FLOW DRAWING UP PLENTY OF MID LEVEL MOISTURE
AROUND THE UPPER HIGH TO THE EAST. PRECIPITABLE WATERS ARE EXPECTED
TO RANGE FROM 1.5" TO AROUND 2". MODEL SOUNDINGS WERE ALSO
INDICATING DECENT INSTABILITY FACTORS OVER THE MOUNTAINS.

You called it.

That inverted ULL that moved off mainland into Baja was interesting. W the daytime heating it really blew up. See if it happens again today.

NO CHANGES TO CURRENT FORECAST THIS MORNING. AWAITING THE ARRIVAL OF
THE MONSOON WHICH WILL BEGIN IN EARNEST ON WEDNESDAY AND CONTINUE
WITH VARYING DEGREES OF INTENSITY FOR THE NEXT 7-10 DAYS

...

PWATS ARE EVEN HIGHER ON THURSDAY...INCREASING TO 1.75"...SO THE
THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE SHOULD BE GREATER. THE STEERING FLOW ALOFT
REMAINS SOUTHEASTERLY SO STORMS MAY ONCE AGAIN DRIFT INTO THE
VALLEYS. THE ELSINORE CONVERGENCE ZONE LOOKS PRIMED TO TRIGGER T-
STORMS IN THE INLAND EMPIRE THURSDAY AFTERNOON WHEN MOISTURE AND
CONVERGENCE PARAMETERS ARE MAXIMIZED.

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY...PWATS DECREASE SLIGHTLY AND THUNDERSTORM
COVERAGE SHOULD BE LESS WIDESPREAD. SOUTHERLY STEERING FLOW WILL
KEEP THE CONVECTION MOSTLY CONFINED TO THE MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS.

SUNDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY...THE MONSOONAL FLOW PATTERN WILL PERSIST
THROUGH AT LEAST THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK WITH DIURNAL AFTERNOON AND
EVENING THUNDERSTORMS MAINLY OVER THE MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS EACH
DAY.

A LARGE UPPER HIGH OVER TEXAS WILL EXPAND WESTWARD TONIGHT AND
WEDNESDAY. THE INCREASING HGTS WILL SMOOSH THE MARINE LAYER DOWN

Is "smoosh" a technical term?

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY THE UPPER HIGH MOVES OVER THE 4 CORNERS AREA AND
BECOMES STATIONARY. THIS LOCATION IS THE IDEAL PLACE FOR MONSOON
FLOW INTO THE STATE.

HAVE TO MENTION THAN BOTH THE NAM AND THE EC ARE VERY DRY...BUT
FAVOR THE WETTER GFS BECAUSE THE POSITION OF THE UPPER HIGH IS SO
CONDUCIVE TO MONSOON MOISTURE FLOW.

Uh oh.

Tons of lightning down south of AZ a few hundred miles tonight and that blob is slowly heading our way. Should be some nice buildups in the mountains tomorrow.
