Sure been nice the last two days with rain rain and more rain. Yesterday did not offer up much until the evening when we had a great night time light show with some solid moderate rain. I have light rain at 8200 as I type this. Like last summer things are looking very green up here.

That was a neat lightning storm last night last night wasn't it, SM? I watched on the McCoy cam as it moved in then stepped outside our front door as it came overhead. Too bad it didn't rain for very long last night, but it was sure nice waking up to light rain this morning.

In all my years of living here I've only seen it rain on the Independence Day parade once or twice (saw it briefly snow once, too on the 4th). This Saturday is calling for 60% chance of rain after 11:00 which is when the parade begins. Let's hope it holds off until 12:30!

Another quick cell passed through around 2:30 a.m. Lightning lit up the bedroom and woke me up so I stood at the slider and watched and listened to the show for 10 minutes. Nice downpour for about 15 minutes and it moved out as fast as it moved in. Thanks for watering our gardens Ma!

Uh oh. Now the forecast calls for 80% chance of thunder showers by 11:00 a.m. on the 4th. I think we're going to have a lot of unhappy holiday outdoor revelers this weekend!

FOR SATURDAY, MORE THUNDERSTORMS ARE LIKELY TO DEVELOP IN A
SIMILAR MANNER AS TODAY, WITH INITIAL CELLS FIRING UP NEAR THE
SIERRA THEN SPREADING TO THE EAST. MANY OF THE GUIDANCE RUNS ALSO
INDICATED SOME UPPER LEVEL FORCING TO SUSTAIN SOME ACTIVITY AGAIN
THROUGH THE LATE EVENING AND OVERNIGHT. THIS MAY IMPACT HOLIDAY
ACTIVITIES INCLUDING EVENING FIREWORKS SHOWS, SO KEEP POSTED TO
OUR WEB SITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA FOR THE LATEST THUNDERSTORM
INFORMATION THROUGHOUT THE DAY.

Well, I figured the storm is either going to put a damper (pun) on the parade or the fireworks.

Can you imagine how disappointed all those thousands of people down at Crowley Lake would be if the pyro crews won't be able to shoot off the display? I'm sure many will want a refund even if it's an act of God!

I bet the parade and fireworks are fine, it's the pops in the park I would worry about. So far clear as a bell for the most part today.

Dang, no rain last night. Woke up to gray skies this morning. Could rain anytime...who knows! Walking to work today as there is no use in trying to deal with driving and parking along Frontage Road near Main Street this morning!

It was overcast, cool and windy during the parade. Dark clouds rolled in around 3:30 and we heard some thunder, but it cleared out and is partly sunny now. Looks like we dodged the bullet and the fireworks show should go on.

I took my lunch hour on the deck at my office to watch the parade. SG walked up and joined me. Huge crowd in town since the 4th fell on a Saturday this year. Good for us!

Woolly was dressed up as a Hawaiian deity and all his followers were chanting to a "Snow, snow, snow" song.

Nice pics SL I'm glad the weather was good for the parade.

NWS Reno issued a flash flood warning for 120 out by Benton Hot Springs. Looks like a pretty strong cell producing very heavy rain.

Loved the combo of rain, rainbows and fireworks... Epic!

Add in the drones flying in the background and it was a night to remember in Crowley!
