Because I didnt sleep very well in the heat of August.

So what was with that cloud deck this evening!

Quote:
THE GFS AND ECMWF SOLUTIONS DIVERGE AFTER SUNDAY. THE ECMWF SHOWS
LITTLE CHANGE ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY WHEN COMPARED TO SUNDAY. THE GFS
IS CONSISTENTLY SHOWING A WEAK UPPER LEVEL LOW JUST OFF THE SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA COAST. MOST SIGNIFICANTLY...THIS LOW WOULD BRING
SOUTHERLY FLOW TO THE AREA...WHICH ALWAYS MEANS A WINDOW OF
OPPORTUNITY FOR CLOUDS...MOISTURE...AND THUNDERSTORMS.
BEING AT THE
END OF THE FORECAST WINDOW...WILL PUNT HAVING TO CHOOSE A
SOLUTION...BUT THE GFS REMAINS THE MODEL OF CHOICE BASED ON ITS
PERFORMANCE THIS YEAR.

Those clouds were from Ignacio...drifted our way from near Hawaii. Then it was like we had a little low spin up near Pt Conception to make them thicker.

Looked very winter-like with lots of wispy high clouds moving in over a decent mid-layer cloud deck. Signs of fall as the first decent low of the season slides into the NW.

Awesome clouds over the mountains this afternoon, best we've had in a while. Radar shows some fairly strong t-storms.

Water is so warm and waves are so big. 80 at the beach and the buildups were cool. Once I watched a satloop it wasnt as cool. They built and swooped off NE. The talking heads arent very positive about chances through the week. Mountains only.

Five degrees warmer than yesterday at this time. Any indication of what it will be like today....
No clouds and Linda is still indecisive...GFS has Linda going west than east. The anticipation for a few drops.

Tropical clouds down this way so the moisture is definitely moving north.

Buildups on all the ridges incl the SAs. Even some mid clouds from the SW just blocked the sun [thankfully].
Got an email from my dad and he says it eerily [sic] calm and very humid ~200mi N of Linda. Waves 10-14. No paddling today.

I'm sitting in my yard watching lightning from a storm 60 miles away over the eastern San Gabriels... I don't remember ever being able to do that before. Tropical clouds moved overhead around sunset, and it's still balmy but not oppressively humid here. Lots of flash flood warnings out east. Definitely feels like something interesting is afoot weather-wise.

Little side note from LoX this Pm -
"One note for the long term discussion...latest GFS brings remnant
moisture from Hurricane Linda towards our forecast area Friday which
could bring some additional more widespread rain across the entire
forecast area. More details with future discussions. "

It's rare that it's just too hot to sleep in SD but last night was definitely way too warm. High ocean water temps and hot tropical air mean more of the same for the next few nights. Yuck.

It's building up nicely out here in the desert already.

Yaaa... football practice is BRUTAL right now. The turf isn't helping nor are the night time practices offering any benefits either.

It's starting early today. Just heard the roar of thunder. There's a good cell above mt Waterman, and another one over by Baden Powell/ Big Pines.

Looks like we've got some activity over my Mill Creek Summit too

My thundered scared puppy is hiding in the bathtube
