Went Monday and all that water in the channel greened up and dropped to 70ish. Was out looking for my next wahoo too. Productive water was 74-75 w flyers. Now green, w debris and no flyers.

Does this mean El Nino pooped out?

No this El Niño hasn't pooped out yet. The hope was that it would stay strong through the full winter before decaying. The latest models show it peaking sooner but it will still be strong for a few months.

I have no idea if having it start to weaken early will have a negative impact on our winter or not but I don't think it will.

No poop. Just Autumn. It happens. 70-72 is still 5-7 broadly above "normal". Just cooler green water isnt where the fish wanna be. Warm and cobalt is where theyre at.

Guests flew outta here today and arrived in San Jose to warm rain.

Apropos of nothing, Directv has had bad reception today. I dont know if this deck is really thick or some other atmospheric issues. Its not just me at home. The bar/restaurant was bad too.

2NA -I never did respond to my reference; tu-na-(K)1000, like a 1000 tuna season. That'll teach me, need to keep life simple; it gets too complicated at times.
Btw - We had Direct tv with the dish on the side of the house years ago. Whenever the rain would reach intensity of .80" an hour we would lose picture. I hope they got that resolved

No rain today just some heavy winds forecasted...nothing yet.

Ok thats a new one. Added it to the list.

Good cloud day but not a drop. Looks like we all better lash down the patio furniture tonight.

Not to bust your bubble but satellite downlinks rarely exceed 4 watts of power - low so they don't fry you like bacon.

As a result sat signals will always be subject to dispersal by heavy rains which can scatter the signal.

So will you freeze frame and pixelate during a downpour?

Possibly yes.

Here's the kicker for you Cable TV fans - they get their signals from satellites too before sending them on to you over their cable. So when pours Biblical Rains - Cable, DirecTV and Dish ALL feel the pain.

But really - you don't freak when your smartphone hiccups for 2 seconds - why get all bent out of shape because something as stupid as TV does?

OK dog, you seem in the know. I read somewhere, I think from Direct themselves, that sun angle in Fall and Spring brings passing periods of interference. Is it as simple as that? Solar radiation interferes w signal when the sun is essentially behind the Sat in the S?

The old cliche:
Thats why they call it fishing and not catching.

Ive seen some amazing sights Ill remember for a long time. Catching Ive ticked the boxes enough to be happy. BFT early then YFT dorado and marlin and finally wahoo. YT mixed all through pretty much everywhere inshore. With remarkable black skipjack and bullet tuna. Epic indicators. Definitely.

Are we finally going to have a Santa Ana? Certainly no sign of it yet down this way. Even had a little light rain for a few minutes early this morning.

I was hoping they were wrong. But no. Its blowing 20+. It wont be a Santa Ana until it shakes the house in the middle of the night.

I saw a big buildup over the S SAs at lunch. Looked up the visloop and it was just a tiny isolated puff. There was some precip in the mountains this morning from the NW flow.
