So we've got the remnants of Pali in the Central Pacific and ALEX! in the Atlantic. Alex has been acting strange all across the basin.

Starting early or ending late?

Atlantic 10day surface analyses slideshow of Alex. Havent found a sat vid yet.

Edit: from Low (roughly S of Miami) to Hurricane Force Low to subtropical L to hurricane.
Alex is an outside the box thinker, bucking tradition across the board.

Pali wants to cross the equator. Whats with these storms?

Now we have Tropical Storm Colin expected to make landfall in Florida and then re emerge into the Atlantic.

I was just wondering today if the switchover to La Nina conditions would give us here more tstorms late this summer as the winds shift east to west in monsoon flow.

Blas is a Cat 3 storm with forecasts split between intensifying to Cat 4 and weakening. Should get decent surf out of it if nothing else. Hopefully some beautiful tropical sunsets too.

Blas is a weak Cat 4 but forecast to weaken as it continues to move northwest.

Where is everyone?! I'm in Maui right now, looks like we're going to get some of the hurricane remnants on Friday. The same day I'm supposed to golf at Kapalua, dang it!

Nice parade of hurricanes down south with Darby being the current one spinning at Cat 2 with a beautiful eye showing up on the satellite images.

Meanwhile the Atlantic is very, very quiet.

Darby is getting interesting. A couple of models has it maintaining near Cat 3 strength and heading towards the Big Island. Most models have it weakening fairly rapidly and not posing any threat to the islands. Which will it be? Check back in 48 hours.

The is the first time I can think of that the EPAC has been ahead of the WATL in the storm count. Even more notable in that the WATL had a surprise January named storm, while the EPAC didn't have a named storm until almost July.
