We have to watch the progression and degression of Seymour; once it hits the 20 N. degree mark as usual.

Really.... We all know how this is going to end up; or do we?

Seymour is a Cat 2 now with mixed forecasts as to whether it'll hit Cat 3. Either way it shouldn't stay that strong for long. High possibility for some clouds/weather for us since it won't be that far south.

It's a Cat 3 now and should strengthen a bit..
"Seymour is expected to remain within an area of low wind shear and
over SSTs of around 28C during the next 24 hours. These conditions
favor additional intensification and the NHC wind speed forecast
calls for a peak intensity at category 4 strength later today.
After that time, increasing southwesterly shear and cooler waters
should begin the weakening process. Seymour is predicted to weaken
very rapidly between days 2 and 3 when it encounters very strong
southwesterly shear and moves over SSTs below 25C"

There is just no romance to the name "Seymour".

See more wind gusts up to 185 mph... See more of an eye at Cat 4.
Could we see a Cat 5 for a brief moment?
via NOAA - "Some slight strengthening is still possible
this morning while Seymour remains over warm water and in a low
shear environment, however, by this afternoon the hurricane will
begin moving over slightly lower SSTs, which should start the
weakening process."

Its falling apart and releasing moisture at just the right time for SoCal.

Hoping to get a nice sunset tonight if these clouds aren't too thick.

Nice!

You beat me to it.

It would seem to me that SoCal would get a pretty decent amount of rain from this system but they are only predicting a quarter inch for the coastal plains. Sure looks like a lot of moisture streaming in with some good dynamics, but what do I know.

Apparently I know absolutely nothing about weather. A total of 10 drops of rain in Downey (I may have miscounted a few of them) and a few clouds. I had a feeling the weather service was going to miss the forecast on this one but I was thinking the other direction. As has been the pattern the last number of years, a very disappointing storm. At least the northern 2/3 of the state got it good.

Hurricane Otto is the latest hurricane formation in the Atlantic/Carib. on record, since Martha in 1969.

Otto is a strong Cat 2 crossing the ismus and heading to the Pacific. Models range from Cat 3 to a TS.

Don't be surprised to see a rapid strengthening since it's not uncommon late in the season.

It is at a very low latitude. It should get a boost if it makes it over the ridge unscathed.

So Im down in ML MEX and Otto --whats left-- is giving me a chance of Tstorms the next 4days. Sat being the most likely per Wunderground. Thanks Otto. At least it never really strengthened once it took it out on CR and Nicaragua.
