Yeah! Its actually rain rained already around noon for a few minutes, enough to thoroughly wet the ground. It feels moister in the air than it has for a long time too. Its crazy, I have my lights on its so dark up here.

The major storm system is poised off the Central Coast this morning.
Trough is becoming negatively tilted as expected and that will help
to kick the front in with some AU-THOR-I-TAI tonight. Overall the system
is a bit slower and now expected most of the event to occur well
after dark through daybreak Monday. The Monday morning rush hour is
likely to be a dicey one for most metro areas. All of the headlines
remain in place.

I had some heavy rain and thunder earlier this afternoon. About 0.2" so far with that first wave. Snow levels look like they're around 7000 feet now... hoping to see some white mountains tomorrow.

Awaiting quick shipment of parts to repair the San Diego (KNKX)
88D Radar...it may not be available in time for the significant
precipitation event tonight. Please plan to use alternate radar
sites at Santa Ana, Edwards AFB, and Yuma.

Doh!

Just an estimate from some buckets I have outside here in Manhattan Beach. Most stations to my south were reporting 0.15 - 0.16, with LAX coming in at 0.19.

Snowfall amounts above 7000 feet will be three to eight feet in
the Ventura and Los Angeles County Mountains. Snowfall amounts may
be up to twelve inches in the San Gabriel Mountains of eastern Los
Angeles County especially with the lingering weather.

If only that weren't a typo...

Ok. .20 was good for so early. I might be near 10/100 of drizzle now. Ha.

That Blob is menacing out there.
Bring it.

The radar looks impressive between Pt Conception and Mammoth. Now we just need it to keep moving.
