Amazing consistency.

...another 4 feet or so if i'm reading the current 18Z GFS correctly; by 1/9.
Then again this many days away makes it 50/50.

And it definitely depends on what elevation you're talking about. That's another very warm storm similar big one about 10 days ago. Hopefully it's all snow for Mammoth but that looks like 9K+snow levels to me.

The 0z continues and maybe even strengthens the storm for the 10th. That's not completely accurate though since it shows heavy precipitation for 72 hours in a row. After a short break there's even more snow. Total precipitation is well over 5".

If this thing verifies it could be one of those storms that people talk about for years. It's going to be fun keeping an eye on the models for the next week.

The crazy thing is that it's been in the forecast for 6 days already and it's still 12 days out.

Coming up for the free bacon on the 7th and leaving on the 10th. Hopefully, I'll get snowed in.

12Z GFS still brings in a storm around the 8th-9th.

7 day qpf has snow just about every day this week. Maybe Howard will have to issue a Platinum Powder Alert after all. It certainly should be cold enough starting Tuesday.

Okay we really need a January storms thread. I'm out of clever titles.

This is the total precipitation through 264 hours (Jan 11) from the 0z GFS. The bright yellow is in the 20 to 25" range. This run doesn't have much precip for Mammoth over the next 72 hours though.

The long range qpf from NCEP also is indicating high amounts of precip.
