Every time I look at the cams I swear it's snowing harder. This is truly beautiful.

There's a flash flood warning almost directly west of Mammoth. The strong band of precipitation is heading right for us. At some point the snow will end or at least turn to just light showers.

The jacuzzi cover was cleared off at 6pm last night and this morning there was about 6". Looks like a foot fell since 7am.

Pretty sweet powder.

Wow, that's a pretty sweet picture! I've been watching that band the last couple hours as well. It's moving super slow!

Our blower came earlier this morning, but you'd never know it by the time I returned from lunch with a friend around 1:00. She picked me up in her 4WD SUV, we parked in the lower Vons lot because there is a huge mountain of snow in the upper lot and no way to loop around. Shot some photos of the snow storage mountain in the west end of the Vons parking lot (not the tallest I've ever seen there, but impressive), took photos on the way back to our place where she dropped me off in the street because the blower hadn't been back to do our driveway again and she didn't want to get stuck. Took a few photos of our driveway and buried cars as it has been snowing steadily without wind since early this morning. Thank goodness this snow is light. I spent another 1.5 hours shoveling while SG was at a doctor appointment across the street and he just came in from another 2.5 hours of shoveling and cleared off our front porch. We're cooked.

If crews can't begin trucking snow out of here tomorrow, town is going to be screwed since there won't be anywhere for the holiday weekend visitors to park. I can hear the complaints now..."but we were guaranteed two parking spaces for the 16 people we have staying in our condo." Oy!

That mushroom cap cracks me up for some reason.

Has your snow pile always encroached on your porch? I dont remember seeing pics of that before.

Better get ready for the next series because its going to be much colder than this one. The snow will be fluffier but there's going to be a lot of it. Ski your snow pile.

.LONG TERM...Sunday through Friday...

Forecast becomes more challenging by midweek as another atmospheric
river attempts to take aim at the West Coast. We are seeing some
differences between operational simulations and the ensembles when
it comes to this atmospheric river for next week. There is no
question that it will be making its way across the Pacific towards
the West Coast, but there does seem to be some variability where it
may make landfall come Wednesday/Thursday.

From what we are looking at right now, the main system would move in
Wednesday. This has the potential to be a quick hitting big storm
with heavy rain, snow and strong winds. Snow levels will start high
at near 7000 to 8000 feet Wednesday before falling to the valley
floors by early Thursday. Latest model simulations are showing snow
levels dropping much faster, which would hopefully help mitigate
long duration heavy rain and flooding concerns.

Main takeaways: We could see another round of strong winds, low
elevation flooding, and even more snow Wednesday through Friday. We
recommend keeping any flood mitigation measures on hand since the
potential exists for more flooding. We also can`t rule out another
round of heavy snow for the Sierra and foothills
. -Edan

Wow, you can actually see the mountain on the 395/203 traffic cam! Looks beautiful, almost majestic under the moonlight.
