About an hour ago we had a nice little downpour here in Seal Beach. It took me about 30 minutes to get this reply posted! Anybody know what's up with the server for this forum?

I've found its slowest to refresh after I create a new post, but its actually posted. What I do after I hit Submit is open up a new window and check to see if my post showed up (it has) and then close out the older window entirely. Its a pain but a workaround. Editing goes normally.

^^^That's what I do as well. If it's really really slow I just go back to work and check back in a few.

Sometimes it's a good thing to get distracted. It gives one the time to regroup...
and then put everything in overdrive and get it all done in record time. Trying to be helpful.
now to see if the 18Z GFS is done yet...

My precip. forecast on the wx table has been tripled for the next event stretching from tomorrow to early Thurs. Up until last night it was around .25" and now its .75" for the duration. It forecast .88" for the AR storm and it was right on the money.

And NOW its up to 1.53"! Thursday when the snow levels are down to 5000 ft (I think it will be lower) it has a good shot of .57" for me, so the mountains could get some good snow out of it.

For HeRe. The wx table and the CNRFC both came in at .95" through FRiday AM.
The new 18Z GFS is at 1.11".

LOX from earlier

A closed low pressure system
will form over western Oregon and bring another fast-moving cold
front to southwest California by daybreak on Thursday. This system
will be the coldest of the week and is taking a more over-water
trajectory, therefore plenty of moisture to work with.
The main
rain band with this one will be apparent Thursday morning along
the central coast and south of Pt Conception from midday Thursday
forward. Rainfall totals look similar to Wednesday`s storm, right
in the 0.5-1.5 inch amounts, but it will be more showery in nature
overall. The main issue is the very cold air aloft at -25 to -28
degrees C late Thursday afternoon into the night. Snow levels
likely to be about 5k feet during steadier precipitation Thursday
then drop less than 3k feet by Friday morning. Snow showers are
likely to continue into Friday morning for mountains and this
could be a major impact to highway passes including the I-5
Grapevine, highway 14, and highway 33. May need to consider a
winter storm watch as snow amounts could exceed 6 inches above
4500 feet from late Thursday into Friday. In addition, unstable
air could generate graupel showers for valleys and coasts as the
center of the upper low moves directly over our region late
Thursday and Thursday night.

Talk about an overachiever! When I went to bed last night the rain band looked like it was getting smaller and my forecast was for .75" or so. I cant quite see my own tube clearly but the nearby NWS station says 1.77" ! Its still raining too.

However the forecast cut Thursday's rain by half.

Man what a weird storm. Pine Mountain Club got literally no rain/snowfall, but I guess it was a decent storm for the LA basin. It doesn't look like any of the SoCal mountains got anything more than a tenth of an inch actually. I sure hope tomorrow's storm is nothing like this last storm. The rain in LA is great but the mountains is where it really needs to fall.
