^ LOL...amen!

Some instability showers moved in around an hour ago. Looks like the summit sign got a little more buried again with last night's and today's new snow.

The Town Public Works crews finally got a chance to take down the Main Street holiday streetlamp decorations yesterday on the first full day of Spring...ha! :P Now they need to deal with all the ripped banners with broken arms on those streetlamps.

About 40% of this is for the first 72 hours and the rest is for the beginning of next week:

Snow levels down to town or lower.

Looks like precipitation totals through Sunday could be similar to the last storm.

I'm hoping this one exceeds expectations. I will be happy if the mountain picks up a foot by Saturday morning, and a few more inches during the day Saturday to keep things fresh.

Got a little more snow than expected late this afternoon. Had to move the Honda back into "winter position" in case the blower has to come later tonight or in the morning.

I think everyone forgot how to drive in snow already. There were several accidents as cars drove down Minaret from Main Lodge this afternoon and many in town since then. Don't put those chains away. It ain't over until the fat lady sings! :P

If the patrol site data can be trusted there's about 10" of snow from just over an inch of precip.

Well the 7 day qpf dried up. But this storm was similar to the last one and gave the mountain a nice fresh coat.

Looking at the cams, it seems the whole top of the mountain went down with wet slides after avy control late this morning. Still pretty breezy. The line at McCoy for G2 is very long!

The 0z GFS total qpf through 4/11 (384 hours) is less than 2". Hello spring skiing.

I got out on the mountain on Saturday. The weather was beautiful and the snow pretty good but the crowds were insane. I was hoping to get some powder runs in but every inch of the mountain got tracked up pretty quickly. They were slow to open the top of the mountain because of heavy avalanche control (maybe 12:30 - 1:00) They were bombing the heck out of the ridge line and almost every blast was triggering a wet slide, it was interesting to watch. I was in line on 23 when they opened it up and got in a couple of really nice runs and could have stayed on that the rest of the afternoon but the lift line was just too much for me (a good 15 - 20 minute wait it seemed). I'm guessing some people have already started spring break because I haven't seen crowds like that in quite a while.

Spring breaks have begun as many of the southern CA colleges were out last week with more schools out this and the following weeks. The projected occupancy for next weekend (as of last week's report) was already at 75%. The new report will be out this Wednesday.
