With no campgrounds open above 9K and the Lakes Basin Road not plowed yet, town is going to be pretty busy with folks staying in condos and second homes.

I have camping reservations at Sherwin Creek for memorial, and they aren't open yet either, but showing a projected opening day for tomorrow. SL, is there still snow on the ground on Sherwin Creek road? I can't imagine why they wouldn't open the campground tomorrow....

^ FP, I haven't been to the campground to know if there is still snow or not, but the road is clear. There is still some snow in shady spots around the Hayden Cabin which is at the same elevation, so there may be some snow left in the shady spots in the campground.

However, it's not always just about the snow. Keep in mind the campground may have downed or hazard trees to clear off and lots of debris from the winter. Sewer lines need to be blown out and/or repaired then brought back on line. It has reached the freezing point here every night since last weekend's storm passed through so that delays getting the sewer lines fired up, too.

There is a flood warning for the entire region's waterways as temps warm up again this next week. If you have pets (keep on leash) or kids, keep them well away from swift-moving water.

Have a fun and safe holiday weekend and pack your warmies!

Ugh, flood water and holiday makers are not a good mix with families who rarely get out of the city. Yikes.
