In case anyone is wondering, our smoke this morning (7/2) is from the Schaeffer Fire started by lightning on 6/24. The smoke is now drifting into our area.

It's going to be another hot one today into the low 80's. Occupancy in town starting today through Wednesday morning is at 98%.

It's been years since I've skied on 4th of July (when open), so I woke up at 6:00 this morning and decided...what the heck? Was on the snow by 7:45, skied a few runs and was off by 9:00. Cars were parked almost down to Chair 4! Lot of folks enjoying the novelty of skiing on the 4th! Skipunk, twins and his bride were out there and we texted, but never hooked up. I had to get back into town to take photos of my Southern Mono Historical Society peeps at the parade staging area, so I quickly got into shorts and walked down there. Then I joined my dear visiting friends to watch the parade. Their adult kids marched with our entry representing the Mammoth Museum at the Hayden Cabin. Fun was had today! Happy Independence Day all!

Tomorrow only 1,2, G1 and G2 will be in operation.

Is 23 closed for the season or they plan to run it on weekends.

It's just down for maintenance right now.

This looks pathetic, but has it ever been open at all on July 4th?

That snow ramp is still there! So much snow still.

The snow ramp was gone today. They closed it yesterday about 2pm.

I have no idea how long maintenance takes, so check the Lift Status on Friday after closing and see if 23 is expected to operate.

The WRODS on Stump may have looked pathetic, but the snow was actually pretty good on them! I don't believe Chair 2 has ever been open on 7/4.

MMSA has had a to do a LOT of snow farming around the base of Broadway (including the ramp up to the sundeck, obviously!) to keep it there!

With all the windows and sliders open last night, it was neat to wake up around 1:15 a.m. to the smell and sound of rain...just as forecasted! I got up to watch the lightning and listen to the thunder, but it didn't last long, maybe 15 minutes.

Nice thunderheads have built up today and we already had a brief sprinkle in our 'hood. Just waiting for more. No lightning strikes or fires please Ma Nature...even though I know you're not listening.
