Sometime between 3:15 and 4:00 we had thunder and lightning up HeRe with a brief downpour. Barely enough to soak the top soil. :( Might have had a couple of lightning strikes in the usual areas though and crews are out and about checking for fires now.

Alright.
Too old for festivals. But young enough to remember festivals.

No rain today. And a troughy outlook for the W. September stormses?

Big lightning storm traveling up the Bay Area right now! It even took out our power for a few minutes.

The wild weather continued tonight. The Giants-Dodgers game was postponed twice, and the first pitch is now scheduled for 10 min. before 11! I didnt think they would play this late.

I came out of the supermarket to a downpour, and the lightning was moving to the north. I did get some video but I have to edit. It literally feels like Hawaii out there. We had some small starts a few miles away but they were put out.

I was treated to quite the light show driving back from Mammoth this afternoon. Almost constant lightning around Owens Dry Lake with some very heavy rain. Good times.

Had some bolts with coffee early Monday morning up in Arrowhead. Intermittent on Sunday as well.
Can't wait for some real Fall; leaves look tired...

The lightning has caused a forest fire up here. We never have forest fires up here (too many slugs to ignite).

It sure would keep things interesting if we got these more often. Missed out this time but it's always nice to have a chance and some hope.

Leave it to Lidia to to not make up her mind. Nice cruise though. Cabo to Eugenia to way off OR/CA, down the coast to off TJ, back N off SF to be given a boot in the butt by an Autumn trough to send it to WY. Ok late summer trough.

Jellyfish clouds today.

Fairly good agreement between the GFS and ECMWF for the extended
part of the forecast. The large trough will move northeast on
Saturday as a weak peak-a-boo ridge forms, which should bring
some decrease in the marine layer stronghold and noticeable
warming with temperatures returning to near normal. A weak trough
forms quickly after that on Sunday and Monday, but 500 MB heights
actually increase a little so not expecting a whole lot of
change. Models show another large trough forming over the western
United States by Tuesday which would leading to cooling and more
marine layer. The ECMWF actually swings the low through southern
California next Wednesday, which is something to keep an eye on.

Looks like Mammoth got more monsoonal weather this afternoon. Lots of pics on Instagram. Check out Wave Rave's story for good video.
