I'm waiting for that exciting part because the warm sector has been underwhelming, though pleasantly mild. Only a quarter inch for me so far.

Monterey disco

Satellite currently shows a cold
upper low offshore, centered west of Point Arena, moving to the
east-southeast. A band of showers moving out ahead of the upper
low is forecast to sweep across our area from just before midnight
until about 4 am. Lighting strikes were detected in this band of
convective precipitation earlier this evening and it`s possible we
could see isolated thunderstorms overnight. Brief heavy rain is
likely with the showers and isolated thunderstorms overnight.

Radar shows a band just offshore of SF, we'll see if anything happens.

Apparently that was a good initial burst because it knocked over all 3 trash cans and spilled disgusting compost scraps all over the street which I had to pick up in the rain. Thanks, sis for overstuffing the can.

Precip at McCoy is over 2" now so there should be over a foot of snow maybe 16" or snow.

First measurable snow in our elevation of town (7,832') this morning...about 2", but now the sun is out. The hill picked up 12-22" overnight...not bad. Hope it just keeps up.

Well the totals are right in line with the qpf probably even exceeding it. Very low ratio snow though even up top with about 7:1 during the heaviest precip. More good base snow (where it didn't slide anyway) and an impressive start to the water year.

Surprisingly the snow I shoveled out front this morning was very light and fluffy! We thought it would be heavy, wet slop after last night's rain!

The top popped at 12:22. Looks like hurricane force upslope winds up there! Patrol site shows 54 mph gusts and a nippy 15!

It looks like a pretty good base of snow up top for November, the sign post looks half buried.

Those upslope winds are always enjoyable to buckle up and drop into. A nice exfoliating facial treatment.
