Okay there's been enough consistency to start getting serious about the potential for a nice storm ahead of Opening Day. Maybe an early opening? We can dream...

This shows a max of 60" of snow and it's essentially all between Nov 4th and 6th.

From NWS Reno fb post:

After a week of unseasonably warm temperatures, a large pattern shift is expected for next weekend. A moderate to strong Atmospheric River-type system will begin to impact the western United States late this week into the weekend.

While precise details on how much, where, and type of precipitation are uncertain at this time, it is clear that the first potentially significant colder system will move into the Sierra.

Now is the time to prepare for wintry conditions especially in the Sierra and possibly in the foothills. Follow the tips listed above to prepare for valley rain and mountain snow.

Good ol gif-linkable Unisys --better known for my favorite loop the VWV-- also has a GFS 240hr gif loop.
That you can d/l for posterity.
This is now. I grabbed it for later.

12Z is a happier forecast with more coming in a series of storms - hope it verifies :)

Whatever MMSA crews are doing to the Main Lodge sundeck, they better hurry! It appears they've put in a permanent ramp and are shoring up the deck. (look at cam)

I don't think they're going to finish before it starts snowing.

Totals have increased slightly. Most of it is still falling in the 4-5 day period.

Quite a few projects hurrying before the snow flies. Cement trucks one after another at Lake Mary on Sunday.
This morning was rather quite a bit cooler than the previous mornings...too bad we had to leave.

I didn't think to look on the Unbound cam for that view you posted in the first photo. Now I see what they've done. Instead of the long outside corridor with steps coming down closer to Chair 1, they've put in steps directly down in front of those doors.

Opening Day beer toast definitely won't be on the sundeck (I recall it was at the top last year, but if there's not enough snow to open the top... :?

From the SF office

There will be a one or two day break in the rain early next week. The
long-range shows an upper ridge in the Gulf of Alaska which will
allow troughs to develop and deepen in the eastern Pacific. Models
indicate more rain chances around the middle of next week.

Sounds like a real pattern change with a ridge directing storms our way.
