This is the ultimate flip flop. Might as well use quarter forecast; heads or tails.
I'm sure they'll straighten out...by Friday. Heads it is - we're getting rain.
LOX disc. this AM
"The European model (ecmwf) moves an upper level trough across the
Pacific northwest on Saturday and into the northern rockies on
Sunday/Monday. Conversely, the GFS has a deep upper-level low
moving across California on Saturday and into the Nevada on
Sunday/Monday. The European model (ecmwf) scenario would indicate little, if any,
chance of rain for southwestern California and some decent north
to northeast winds Sunday/Monday. The GFS solution would result in
a decent chance of rainfall for southwestern California on
Sunday/Monday with much cooler temperatures. These 00z solutions
are in direct opposition to previous runs of each respective
models. So, given the dramatic flip-flopping,
will only make minor
changes to previous forecast. Slight chance pops from Saturday
evening through Monday will continue with below-normal
temperatures on Sunday/Monday (albeit with very low forecast
confidence)."

Take a break from the weather and get out on the hill. Perfect conditions and there is almost nobody here....

This was an interesting quote for extended (Sun-Wed) forecast from LOX's PM discussion...
"However, given the tricky pattern and various upper lows floating around pretty much
anything is possible."

Yes Snowman, that is good advice...

I have a CAT ( clear air turbulence) allergy. That plane trip was not fun landing at Burbank yesterday. I actually had to grip the armrests coming over Ventura. We landed S to N instead of the usual W to E and were still wobbling side to side before a hard touchdown.

Winds are gusting up (old) HeRe at 38 mph.

Arrrgh! 6% humidity right now. Dust and crap flying everywhere. The smell of smoke in the air. My nasal membranes are cracking and bleeding, I can't stop sneezing, my skin is crawling my eyes are itching and everything I touch is gritty and covered in dust. God I love this weather.

I was going to pick up a Christmas tree this week but the air has been so dry (7% again today here in HB) I figured the trees on the lots have to be pretty desiccated right about now. I'm hoping that after the weekend they will have gotten in some fresh batches or at least ones that were pilled in the back of a trailer. I'm feeling a bit mummified myself after four days of this.

Am I imagining things or has the smoke that went offshore somehow got caught up and is drifting north? I went out this morning and thought there was fire smoke in the air and right now there is a layer over the entire south Bay Area but there's no fire. Its very obviously smoke.

The winds have finally reached the coast of San Diego bringing blowing dust and sand along with the usual debris. Really pretty nasty out there today.

As these things go it has not been awful down S OC way. I havent seen wind much over 15 but Ive hit the motherload of nose nugs. Add an extra glas of water now n then and embrace the static shocks.
