Anecdotal evidence.
Chatted w my dad this morning (in mid-Pacific-side, Baja) and he had a nasty T storm overnight. I warned him of a blow but he got really rare winter precip too. Broke a long streak of it not being cold there. Ha.

Quote:
SGX this morning.

For Friday into next weekend...greater differences among the
global models arise. The global models have a highly amplified
pattern with high pressure aloft near or just off the West Coast.
However...there are greater differences with the downstream cold
trough of low pressure. The GFS is farther east which would
result in warmer weather for Southern California with weaker winds
and near seasonal temperatures. The ECMWF and Canadian models are
farther west with this cold trough of low pressure which would
result in a cooler and windier pattern for Southern California.

The current forecast leans towards those cooler...breezier
solutions...but not as cool as the ECMWF.
The period from next
weekend into the week of Christmas is one of increasing
uncertainty from the western states into the eastern Pacific...and
an exceedingly low confidence forecast for Southern California
with a large range of forecast possibilities.

But w/o precip. We need more retrograde. Or something. So far in SoCal La Nina es fea no? As advertized.

I thought It was a mirage, there are actually marine layer type clouds down here Huntington Beach this morning.
I will enjoy the moisture in the air while I can, I guess it will be gone by this evening.

I posted this in the fire thread but when we flew over the Thomas Fire around noon the wind was already blowing the smoke almost horizontal. We had a lot of turbulence over the Central coast too.

Had a nice rain event here in Huntington Beach. Left my sunroof open. Total surprise. All the streets are wet. I actually had to use my wipers.
Noticed the temps at the summit of Mammoth are sitting at 3 degrees, and 10 degrees at main.

Light rain in SD. Fortunately it hit after rush hour. Seems like it might total a few hundreds.

After the .01" rain came through got rather real breezy for two hours. Gusts in the 30-40 range and temp in the mid 40's.
Now just slight breeze..nature's air conditioner. 8-)
