NBC4 is live over the Burbank hills right now and I think they're going on air in 3 minutes but you can see the mud cascading down Country Club Dr.

Non event broadcast. When I happened upon it there was a cascade of mud and debris coming out of the catch basin down Country Club Dr. The structure of the basin looked damaged to me like part of it had been ripped away. Here it is: https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/loca ... 88463.html

The more interesting blob is that part west of the center currently offshore. Where will it land? I say southern LA county and OC.

^^^The way it's raining here I'd say it landed in my backyard...
It may end up strafing all of So-Cal.

I've been out and about. Did SB/Ventru dodge the bullet(blob)?

Not really, lots of weather stations around Ojai picked up around 1"+ of rain in the last 3 hours. It's past Ventura county now however.

Just had the hardest rain of the day in San Diego. It was dumping and it's not over yet.

Spokesman for Public Works they had at one point .86" in 15 minutes! Which is unprecedented. Horrific conditions..

NWS is saying mudslides. Did you see the pics of the 101?

I know I am being pretty "anal" about it, and I may be completely wrong, but I believe a mudslide is when a slope gets completely saturated and eventually fails because of the extra weight of the water and the added lubercation. They are similar to landslides. What the footage shows are debris flows where the excess water that is not absorbed by the ground runs down the slope picking up everything in it path ( mud, rocks, trees, cars, houses, people and so on) and rushes down the canyon in a big muddy slurry. Similar to a flash flood. I know it's really being ticky tack about it but it bugs me like calling hail "snow" or tsunamis "tidal waves" they are all similar but very different in their causes. Well after all of that I will probably find out I am completely wrong.

Getting back to the storm, it was really impressive how quickly the temperature dropped once the center of the low came over.
Nice storm, although I got less than half of what I was expecting in Downey and HB, and no thunder storms. I was really expecting some exciting weather out of this one.

I got the subtlties.

This afternoon had some pretty steady rain here in S OC as the core wave pivoted through. I topped 1.75in w a 2.25" fairly close by. Tried a quick walk to Ralphs for emergency gochujang and got stormed.

Oceanside got hammered this morning and is @ 2.89".
