" There is a range of scenarios that could
develop, including a 'wet' Santa Ana....

I've never heard of "a 'wet' Santa Ana" before.

Edit. PROOFREAD!
This is the 3rd for me.
In the 90s while in SD a big H was parked offshore and offshores were predicted. Next day was deep eddy-like conditions and heavy drizzle. A noteable busted forecast that actually brought precip.

The back side of the H that was supposed to bring offshores was affected by jet energy diving into N America --inside slider.

We need a loop to watch. For a week.

Let's prove this guy wrong!
Interesting
CHANEL 4 News Meteorologist Fritz Coleman comments on 2017/18 rainfall totals this year are looking.
("I Highly doubt there will be no more than another inch of precipitation landing in LA this year. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this is going to be one of the driest years in History for Los Angeles! lanbc4.com")

Didnt Fritz mean to say, "I highly doubt there will be any more than another inch"?

I thought he was a comedian, not a real meteorologist.

A nice cold L off in the bight could be a snowmaker.

Fairly good illustrative forecast of the 06Z GFS forecast. Valentine Low comes down CA spins in the Pacific draws up some good precipitable water, gives SD(some parts) 2" of rain, leaves and end of story. If it only were that easy...
BTW - after watching this few times. Is there a mirror low but not that strong, coming down the 17th?

I think the 17th is the same one coming back onshore isnt it? The GFS has another one coming on the 24th. That model has a succession of lows coming up and over the ridge but some go into the interior CONUS. They are all cold.

I hate Fritz, he is just a talking head that reads copy. Like Cheaps said, he is not a Meteorologist he was just a crappy stand up comic that landed a gig reading the weather on TV. Good for him for keeping the job for so long but I get upset every time I watch him. You would think that after 35 years of doing the weather that a person would pick up some knowledge about it but he seems just as clueless about it now as when he first started. He has no interest or compassion about the weather, which makes it even more upsetting every time they promote his "Expert Forecast". (For years I would cringe every Santa Ana event as he explained how the winds were blowing in hot air off the deserts.) I've always described his act as "weather for people not interested in weather" Come on, show some pride in your profession and learn something about the science.
Ok, that's my rant for the day. Also he may end up being right, I just hope not.

I miss Dr. George!

This was the 06Z for reference. Looks like a mini me low with the Valentine low to the east.
'tis irrelevant now the 18Z GFS doesn't have the secondary one on the 17th...
